I am very excited! I have been engaged for almost a year so this has been a long time coming...

This very different from my "dream ring" but I am totally in love this this ring design. It is very much a "me" ring and I couldn''t be happier.

Sunnyd - the asscher is still coming. The setting I chose is very detailed and very expensive and we all know that asschers are very pricey, hard to find and tend to face up much smaller than most stones. FI has started the process for "dream ring" but it''s going to be a pretty long process. Between the costs associated with our home and the wedding he knew quickly the process was going to strech longer than he hoped. He told me several times he thought of just selling some of our stocks or getting a credit card just to get the ring. I am SO glad he didn''t do either of those things.

We had a few instances where people said REALLY rude things to me about the fact that I didn''t have a ring. Comments ranging from him being "cheap" to downright nasty comments like "don''t marry him, if he can''t get you a ring, what is he ever going to do for you". Seems like people completely overlook the fact that we have a gorgeous home - apparently that just manifested and didn''t cost any money

The more I got comments like this, the more upset I grew. FI couldn''t stand how upset I was getting and finally decided that he would have this little guy made for me. I love it! Eventually it will be "retired" to my right hand but not before it lives on my left hand through the rest of our engagement and our wedding. I want to have a wedding band made as a wrap to look like two leaves coming off the center where the stones meet. When I move it to RHR status, it will look like a nice art deco piece. I feel like it''s win-win

Oh, sweetie, I am so happy for you! That ring is absolutely beautiful--and, he had it made for you?! That is wonderful! How fantastic that you get to have this lovely ring while you are engaged and when you are married and get to have your dream ring later. Although James and I haven''t started the process for my dream ring yet, that''s essentially what we''re doing too (except using my heirloom instead of a custom ring). Yay! We''re almost like twins.
