Just got back from my first visit with Dr. Hanna, my neurosurgeon.
He is a really nice man and I highly recommend him.
He showed me the problem spot on my mri and it was clearly obvious it was a problem. The hole for the spinal cord is clearly reduced by at least 50%+ at that spot.
We are going to try cortisone shots and see if it helps.
If not then surgery will have to be strongly considered.

Glad he was able to identify the problem--keeping my fingers crossed for you that the cortisone shots will work.

Okay, thanks. Sounds like the narrowing is maybe from arthritic changes.
I'm relieved he didn't find some awful instability that needs to be rushed into surgery. I see a lot of cortisone shots to the lumbar spine and neck. You can have 3 or 4 a year if they help, and they usually do. Fingers crossed you get months of relief.

I went back and got caught up on your first installment. Somehow I missed it.
I’m so sorry you have been suffering with this Karl. Sounds like you are seeing an excellent surgeon. Cortisone shots can be very helpful, I’ve had them in my shoulder, I hope they will be in your situation. Big Hugs!

Good news, Karl, in that you liked the surgeon, felt he explained your condition well, and there’s a no surgical option to try. When will the injection be?

@Ibrakeforpossums

Someone had told him that I requested him but it must have been my orthopedic doc because I had not known his name at the time of referral.
Then I said I looked you up on google and was impressed
Then it was so funny when I said I also heard good things about him by 3 degrees of separation from Dr. Greenberg.
*poof* mind blown LOL.

When will the injection be?
Not scheduled yet, they will call me.

They were having computer problems when I was there at first and I see some stuff did not go to insurance so im going to have to call tomorrow and sort that out.

Ugh. Stenosis is a bear; I have it myself. It's one of the little gifts of aging. I am a HUGE proponent of cortisone injections, and have had a cervical injection once. It was surprisingly not horrible. I hope that it offers you relief!
