As a few of you may know, my sister is due about a week ahead of me in her pregnancy.
She is 39 and this is her first child. This is only the second time that her body has ever been pregnant after trying to over 10 years, and the first ended in a m/c at about 9 weeks in March.
Her numbers from the NT scan were about 1 in 179, so the doctor wanted to run them again with the blood test, which he did last week. They found out Monday that her chances went down to 1 in 16, but since all the physical attributes look good, they doubled them to 1 in 32. Apparently there is something in her blood that is catching, that wasn't in mine.
She was immediately sent to the specialist for the Amnio and will find out the answer on Monday of next week if the baby has down syndrome. She did find out that they are having a Boy.
Our entire family is praying for her, and I hoping that you all have a little more love in your heart to share. I understand that we are only given what he knows we can handle, but I want so badly for my sister to have a wonderfully healthy baby. She has been waiting for this for so long, it is all I can hope for her right now.

had a similar scare. Docters were concerned about DS as well as, what appeared to be, water in the brain (there is a tech term for that but I forgot). She was under surveillance for a couple of months after the Amnio ruled out DS. To make a very long story shorter, the baby was fine. She delivered a healthy 8 pounder and all is well.
