If anyone remembers this post, https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/beautiful-stone-but-too-light.144512/ about Jerry Newman and the elusive tourmaline color, here''s the final stone that I just adore!
36.gif

It''s a Nigerian Tourmaline, with a lot of colors I couldn''t capture; it has a hue shift to salmony pink and in low incandescent it looks almost like an amethyst. It is blazing magenta in the sun.

It''s big one, 6+ carats, 10.7 mm square, cut in a Barion Bow.

Last one, may be too many pictures.

i was going to put it into a simple solitaire, but maybe a diamond halo?

Beautiful cut and a wonderful color. Congratulations on a beautiful stone. Thanks for the link to the original thread, as I was out of town (and without a computer) for a while and would have missed that thread.

Thank you all! I think Jerry did a remarkable job.

I''ve got one shot that shows the detail in the cutting, please ignore the dog hair.

Sigh. The furry little culprit is immediately to the left of this post.

I just sent him an email with some questions about a recut and some "beautification" work on a stone I received with a couple of scratches that I really want to keep... thanks again for the pictures and the details (on the original thread).

Super sparkly with a pink that doesn''t black out under the sun, which is always a good thing.

Chictomato- It might be good with a very small halo, diamond melee around 1.5 to 2 mm. I have a 12mm amethyst with 1.5 mm melee all around, and it''s pretty nice. Very understated diamonds, they act more like an underline to the stone, an accent. Tomorrow, I might post a picture of the amethyst with the tiny melee so you can see what I mean. Now I just have to find a setting like that . . .

When I''m not in a flamboyant mood, I have "normal" stuff too, though.

Hi Ilander,

You snagged a beauty. I like large stones and hope you enjoy wearing it. Believe it or not, now that we have Jerry Newman in our corner I feel more secure when i buy a stone. The fact that he is willing to "fix" a stone I purchased is very commendable on his part.

Thanks,
Annette

Awesome cutting on that gem!! I think we have another great precision faceter in our midst, and he also does recuts, repairs and cuts other people's rough. Yay!

They've got me! I think the best part is the ability to work direct with a cutter and customize!.

I am SO tired of the usual stuff in jewelry stores, everybody has the same thing.

Here's a pic of a setting I think might work for the tourmaline. It's a big one, 12 x 12 amethyst, I usually wear as a RHR, but couldn't do that and hold the camera

IMHO, not too big. This is a 12 x 12 on a size 7 finger, the tourm is only 10.7 square.

I usually wear this on my middle finger, so it''s not so wonky.

Now, here''s the thing: anybody have any idea where I can get this setting?

I bought this as a ring from Costco, so it was all done. Now where can I get one for the tourmaline? BTW, the amethyst is not that great, a little windowed, so I don''t wear it a lot.
