As we know, the value of any piece is really whatever we can get someone to pay for it, if that's your goal. But just as some kind of starting point, if I did this right, the market value of the gold itself would be around $900.

...Roughly, gold is at about $1,790 per ounce today. That's for pure gold, or 24k.

18k would be 25% less per ounce than 24k, so one ounce of 18k would be about $448 per ounce less than one ounce of 24k gold, or $1,342 ($1,790- $448 )

One ounce equals about 28 grams and your ring is about 20 grams. Roughly calculated, one third of $1,342 is about $447, so $1,342- 447 = $895...

If that helps at all. Great find, by the way. Woo hoo!

Ah okay, gotcha. I was thinking it was something a hobbyist made, since it's rough hewn and doesn't have the carat weight marked on it. But it's exciting to consider that it may have come from an ancient shipwreck or something along those lines!

Hopefully, someone with knowledge in that area will come along. :)
