well after much looking, I am going to try the reverse approach. .I will throw out what I am looking for and maybe someone can find me the right rock.

I am looking for a round diamond.

.85-1.0 ct
ideal cut
g-h color

and willing to sacrifice on clarity. .and go si3 or I1

have a budget of 2250 MAX

any help here.. have looked at the pricescope stones and have yet to have the dealers come thru with one yet.

any help is much appreciated..

Just a quick peak says you can''t have it all. You are willing to sacrifice on clarity to get cut. Yippee, that''s good. But to get it in under your budget, you''re going to have to sacrifice color as well. There are some beautiful J and K diamonds out there in the size you want.

I just looked at the PS your diamonds tool above and there are diamonds within budget if you drop to an I colour for example. When you say Ideal Cut can you be a bit more specific? Ideal Cut can be a term vendors use to describe their better cut diamonds, but the opinions of the ideal numbers and proportions can vary widely. For example EGL often use " Towlkosky" cut to describe their better cut diamonds, however this term doesn't necessarily guarantee a beautiful diamond. Do you want a well cut ( trade ideal) or a top of the range cut with very specific parameters? Sometimes the Ideal Cuts can be a little more hard to find in lower clarities I have read a while ago here, as some cutters can feel that the average diamond buyer who mainly purchases without much research won't be too particular if they go so low on clarity - as long as it has some brilliance that's good enough. My best advice is to study the cut tutorials and learn what the desirable range of depth, table, crown and pavillion angles etc are, their effect on performance and choose a diamond which matches your preferences as closely as you can using the numbers as a guide.

a 58% table is pushing the outer limits of what i would consider ''ideal''
