BUT! Everyone''s situation is different from another... Per example, my husband is German and to process all of the immigration papers, we needed to have about $4,000. We kindly asked to please donate to the "Immigration-of-the-hubby-to-be" fund for us to not be strapped and have a little head start. Besides, I have lived on my own for a while before and had all the necessities that most newly weds might need to start their common life together.
My guests really understood our situation and gladly "donated" to our cause
I think its really HOW you ask for something, not necessarily what you ask for...
