So I got passed down quite a lot of rings from my nan. I find this one so beautiful and was just wondering if anyone knew what the symbols meant inside or what time period it was from? Or any special meanings behind the stone. I think it's from the 60s, not too sure though

These are European gold marks. 375 is 9 karat gold.
I can't make our the rest of the marks. I don't think they are British, though.
Google "World gold marks"
And start looking. It will be a long search, just warning you!
I think you're right about the 1960s, based in the heart symbols. Pretty ring! Good luck!

It’s English. The number 9 and the .375 is 9 carat gold (375/1000) the letter “I” is for 1964 and the last symbol looks like the Hallmark for London.

Uh oh! I stand corrected about the marks!

Although I agree that this is the best interpretation of the marks, there are some anomalies that give me pause:

First, the fineness is represented as “.375” rather than “375”. The traditional method identifies the parts per thousand, thus 375/1000 equals 9 karats. parts per 1,000 gold equals 9 karats. Point 375 parts of gold, though, if accurate, would be approximately 1/3 part gold per thousand, or .009k.

Second, in British hallmarking, the shape of the cartouche surrounding the date letter is traditionally considered part of the date identification - so the fact that the date letter is surround is not 8-sided as shown in the tables for 1964 is of some concern. I do recall reading that the shape of the cartouche is legally specified only for silver - so a hallmark for gold must use the same letter but may use a different surround shapebut I haven’t seen that in practice before (though admittedly my experience is very limited - like .375 limited).

These two deviations from standard practice, taken considered together, lead me to question whether this piece was hallmarked, or just stamped to look as if it had been assayed.
