While I assume the vast majority of perpetrators of sexual assault are men, and the vast majority of those assaulted are women, exceptions do occur.
Throw in the (disappearing but far from gone) gay shame crap and major sports team macho crap and you gots yourself a headline story.

The Cliff Notes:
Allegedly 11 years ago an NHL team's closeted gay "video coach" Brad Aldrich (a man with power over players careers) sexually assaulted a 20 yr old player in the back of a taxi by grabbing player's crotch and repeating (for the third time) an "invitation" to come up to his apartment for "another drink". Wink Wink. Nudge Nudge.
The player refused.

Player told the team's muckety mucks, who did nothing because they wanted to avoid bad press right before important playoff games.
Team went on to win the Stanley Cup.
Rah Rah Rah!
Priorities' ya know. :nono:

Only then did they address the players concerns - but not before this sexual predator went on to assault other victims, both male and female, and a minor.
During this time in 2013 Aldrich pleaded guilty to a charge of fourth degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor boy in high school.
These assaults may not have occurred if the muckety mucks did their job back in 2010.

Shame and fear for his career caused the player to keep his identity secret for years ... until it didn't.
IMO we have the #MeToo movement to thank for shining a light on this dark corner of our society. :appl:

Kudos to the NHL player, Kyle Beach.

Thank you Kyle Beach for speaking up and, even after being swept under the rug, speaking up again. You are an inspiration to all those who have been (and continue to be) taken advantage of by persons in power.
