Hello Everyone!
I'm looking for an engagement ring. I’ve spent the last month going to just about every retail jeweler in the Cincinnati area. I’ve read through a lot of stuff on these forums to educate myself but I think I need you're help.
I am looking for a Princess Cut Diamond (Non-negotiable, Girlfriend has her heart set on that). I want to put it in either a Thin Solitaire or a Thin Band with Accents down the side. My budget is right around $2,700 to $3,000 Max…so assuming I can get it on a ring for around 700 to 800, I really would like to keep this diamond in the $2,000 to $2,200 range. I really would like to get as close as I can to a carat (not a big deal if its .89 or something in the ball park). Now I get with my budget constraints I am not going to be able to get a perfect diamond, but all I want is something that looks good. After reading a lot of stuff on here I understand that if I get a well cut diamond I can drop in color and clarity, so I am willing to drop my expectations there. If going with a company that doesn’t use GIA certification can save me some money, that sounds great to me. So what we are looking at here is.
Carat - .89-1.10 roughly
Color >=I
Clarity >=SI2 (unless you all think that these inclusions at this point would be really noticeable)
Cut – Ideal to very good
Cert – as long as it is certified, I don’t care who did it.
Budget - $2000-$2200 (for the stone only)
I’ve searched quite a few sites and some decent results. Here are two listed diamonds that
The first is 1.08, I, SI1, $2,025. I just emailed them to insure it was an Eye Clean Diamond, if it was available, and if they could send me a photo…hoping to hear back soon.

The next Diamond I found on USA Certed:
Princess Cut: .91, H, VS1, the problem is they don’t tell me what grade the cut is… I emailed them asking who certified the diamond and what the cut grade is but I haven’t heard back yet.
They have an odd URL where I cannot post the URL link but this is all the information that there is on the diamond ^^^^^.
Neither of these has a cut grade which makes me very nervous, but after looking up what kind of Depth % and Table % along with L/W Ratio I want, both of these seem like decent cuts.
Do you think that either of these diamonds are a good value? Or if I buy one of them are they going to get here and then I am going to be disappointed??
I don’t have my heart set on either one of these…So I am open to any and all recommendations for me based on your experience in the diamond world and what I am trying to accomplish here. Just tell me what you where you think I can get my best value because that’s really what I want.
Sorry for such a long post, but I wanted to make sure all the info was in there.
Thank you so so so much!!
