I love rare stone but I have no idea how to tell a real one from a fake one. I will appreciate your help in this matter. It looks like Graff''s diamond *jk.

The only thing we can tell from a picture is that it''s an oval blue stone. We can''t tell treatment, species or quality. Your best bet is to have it tested.

Just out of curiosity - how do you know it''s rare? Do you have a background story (might be interesting to share)?

Yes, no one''s going to be able to tell you anything from a photo, so your best bet is to find a gemologist nearby and show him the stone.

All I know is that it is a blue stone. One can guess what it might be based on a picture but we don''t really know what gem species it really is.
1. What is the stone advertised to be (topaz, sapphire, glass, spinel, synthetic, etc)?
2. Any mention of treatment (irradiation, heating, fracture filled, etc)?
3. No mention of size and carat weight
4. No mention of a lab memo to prove what it really is

Based on the above, you will know if it is truely rare or not.
