I agree -- he looks like a Max.

ETA: He sure is a cute fellow. Glad he found a home with your friend.

LOL. What a sweet looking chap. It''s so funny b/c before I read your notes about the M, he immediately looked like a Measer to me...since he was so measly :)

Yeah, I was thinking of ''Stormy'' for the same reason. Or Mossy? - because of his green eyes.

Well, my husband found a kitty in the rain and named him Gewitterwolke, meaning cumulonimbus thundercloud. Can you tell he was taking German classes at the same time? I think they called him Gettie for short. I kind of like the long name v/s short nick name thing so you can say the long one or the short one, whatever the occasion calls for. oh, and for pronounciation you just substitute the "v" sound for those pesky "w''s"

OK, so my friend apparently didn''t notice the ''M'' on his head until you guys pointed it out, and now thinks he has to have an ''M'' name. She likes ''Moses'' because he was found in some bushes all wet. But you gotta worry he''s going to get a complex, unless you shorten it to ''Moe'' or something.

And then she suggested.... M-Cat. Hahaha. MCAT. She''s a grad school friend. So, uh, little academic joke there.

Still, he could be ''M'' for short. I kinda like it.

No final verdict as of yet.... I''ll keep you posted.

Ooh I'm so glad your friend rescued the cat. He's very cute.

Macavity is the mystery cat in "CATS"

Macavity, Macavity, there's no one like Macavity,
For he's a fiend in feline shape, a monster of depravity.
You may meet him in a by-street, you may see him in the square -
But when a crime's discovered, then Macavity's not there!

And there's also Mr. Mistoffelees

If you look for a knife or a fork
And you think it is merely misplaced -
You have seen it one moment, and then it is gawn!
But you'll find it next week lying out on the lawn.
And we all say: OH!
Well I never!
Was there ever
A Cat so clever
As Magical Mr. Mistoffelees!

or Moz (Morrissey's nickname) -- All of these actually have lots of possible, shorter nicknames.

Gawd. You can tell a lot about me by my suggestions. Such a dork!

Call me crazy, but I like M-Cat too. I think it goes well with "Yellow Dog" as well!

Cute!

So, your friend was RUNNING in the forest when she found this kitty? Makes me think of "Run, Forrest, run!" from Forrest Gump. I would name him "Forrest".

Moose, because he''s so obviously a small guy!

Mortimer
Mikey
Moonpie
Mr. _____________ (put anything in space)
Mischief (did I spell that right?)

I thought I was REALLY clever when I named my tabby Emma because of the M in her forehead. Not. One look in a Cat Magazine proved me wrong.

ditto!!

we had a cat who looked very much like this one, and we named him ''musey''. the reason being, my sister and i found him at a shelter together; when she was a toddler learning to speak she burped and being the bossy big sis i kept telling her to say ''excuse me''. well, she was saying it, but she was pronouncing it ''musey'' and i wasn''t getting it so i kept after her until she got upset

. since we found him together, it was fitting to choose a name based on a memory of us together (rest assured, she liked it too even though the memory was not necessarily a happy-go-lucky one for her). it suited the cat very well. i like names that have meaning like that, but i also dig clever ones like m-cat which i agree, goes perfectly with yellow dog!!
