I'd go with the first one as the HCA is under 2. Have you looked into the JA one I posted above? It's a few hundred less with the PS discount and has a better cut grade.

Would you prefer the JA one over the first one here? I spoke to Stacy there and she says it will not be eyeclean. Also their ring selections is a tad more expensive and I do not see a discount for settings...

The HCA does not trump GIA in my book, and if they give it a cut grade of "good" then it is not a contender for me. Eliminate option 1.

I would not consider a stone that is not eye clean.

The second one you posted is fine if you can get an ideal scope. Will the vendor provide such?

I think you are still being unrealistic about your budget. Something has to give.

Here are some options to consider:

Smaller than you want but in budget and good looking:http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/I-SI1-Ideal-Cut-Round-Diamond-1339912.asp

I think you are right. I need to increase my budget. Only a few more burgers to flip! So after hearing your comments, I either increase price a little bit, or include an H color stone. The JA guy hasn't gotten back to me...

I think my preference is Stone 2 > Stone 1 > Stone 3 > Stone 4. I do not know Stone 2 is available yet, but the other three are. Yes, stone 1 is the same from before -- I have until the end of the day to decide...

Dream D and Nfowife,

Just want to write and thank you both specifically.

I ended up purchasing an engagement ring from B2C, just before the price rose again. I received it last Friday. It's an 0.70ct/H/SI1/EX, POL:VG, SYMM: VG, HCA 1.4. DEP 61.7%, TAB 56%, CRWN ANG 34 deg, PAV ANG 41.0 for a flat $2200. It's set in a simple, thin channel white gold ring with 4 prongs. Supposedly the clarity was downgraded by feather but I can't really see them on this stone under 10X, and certainly it is eye-clean (by me :) ). Is it bad luck to post e-ring pictures before popping the question (she has no idea)?

I think I'm becoming a neurotic (including freaking out about the girdle reflection being "THE FEATHER.") I am a little bit concerned with the 18K white gold channel setting being only 1.9mm wide, and only 1mm wide x 0.9mm deep at the shank. I didn't think about it until now...
