heated welo opal?

I noticed this interesting looking opal on ebay, but decided not to bid because it was listed as heated. I had never heard of a heated opal before. Is this a new trend?

The only heat treatment of Welo opals I've heard of is to sugar it or soak it in motor oil, then put in an oven to make it look like a black opal.

I'm willing to bet on that stone being dyed. There were all different colors at Tucson.
