I live in Vegas and I personally will not eat at a buffet. I think they are disgusting. You have hundreds of people touching the plates, serving spoons (Most probably don''t wash their hands) they are sick etc... people sneeze, cough, and so on in the direction of the food. The only buffet that I have wanted to try is the one at Bellagio, but I know i''ll never go.

I knock little old ladies with oxygen tanks out of the way to get a clean plate LOL....

I can't WAIT for a good soak!!! The cast iron tub we left for "charm" isn't quite as charming as I thought...Ahhhhh, soak me!!!!

Are there any other restaurants suggestions? Non seafood...
We are too simple...there is a tiny sample menue for aureole...and there is not one thing I'd want to eat... sigh.

Milly just saw you didnt like the eiffel tower, too bad. Its one of my favorites. Best escargot en croute EVER! I do agree it is pricey, but everything is! (except the breakfast buffet at Paris, my personal fave!)
Msflutter,

I tried the escargot at eiffel tower, it was okay. I just feel I''ve had better food for that price. Mon Ami Gabi is okay too. The only thing I like from there is the bread with the shredded carrot topping thing. Oh, the escargot is good there too. And I agree, I like the breakfast buffet from Paris. It''s yum.

And I agree with MMM, the Bellagio buffet is pretty good.

A Vegas trip for me is $$$$$. I love to dine at fab restaurants and love to watch shows. Plus I gamble a little too. The last trip I took with Sam to Vegas cost about $3K, and that was only for 3 days in Vegas...hahaha, but gotta love it though!

I''m another "non-buffeter"! Food produced in mass quantities just doesn''t do it for me! They do have that Seafood one at the Rio (I think it''s the Rio) and I ate about 5 plates of just crab and lobster. I know where the Starbucks is, so that''s all that is really important! I''m also stocking the room with Red Bull for fuel...

The bad new for me this trip is that I have a stupid sinus infection and am antibiotics for 2 weeks. So....no stinkin drinks for me! Boo hoo! Not that I drink very often, but in Vegas I like to have the option!

We''re staying at the Alladin and the MGM Grand. I haven''t stayed at either, but have gambed at both! The Expedia rating is good for both! Anyone have good/bad experiences there?

Right now is a great time of year to go to Vegas. The weather should be very nice right now. I used to live there and the weather was only tolerable October through April! While you''re at the Bellagio checking out everyone else''s suggestions, you might want to visit the Fontana Lounge. They have great drinks and there is no cover. The live music tends to be good, and you have a great view of the water show. Red Square at Mandalay Bay is great if you''re a vodka lover. The bar itself is amazing--it''s made of ice. If you''re willing to venture off the strip for dinner, there are some great places not too far away--either by rental car or taxi. Lawry''s the Prime Rib is just off the strip and has some of the best prime rib around. If you head west on Las Vegas Boulevard (the Strip) you''ll find the Bootlegger Bistro. It''s an old school Italian restaurant that doesn''t look like much on the outside but is great inside. While I''m not a huge fan of the Aladdin, you can get a coupon book with your Auto Club card that provides some good deals in their shops and on yard-long margaritas at La Salsa. Nothing beats shopping with a margarita. I highly recommend it!

I''m going too!

We''ve booked the MGM Grand West Wing - supposed to be pretty mod, with Bose stereo and flat panel TVs in all the rooms. Got a wicked rate on flight and hotel, the day after we booked it, the price doubled. DOUBLED. Wow.

What that means to me is that we can justify paying for dinner and shows!

Would love to go to the Grand Canyon too - anyone driven there? How long does it take and where should we rent a car from?

Any fab shopping deals?

The only crappy thing about going to Hoover dam is the traffic, it is horrible around there. I don''t know what you are used to though and you probably won''t mind since you are on vacation.

I am not a buffet lover either, I don''t eat enough to make it worthwhile, mostly because half the stuff I don''t like. Also, I feel like I have to eat just to make everyone I am with happy. When I go, I go with big eaters, sometimes I wonder where all the food went and why they aren''t running to the bathroom every five minutes. This is my family I am talking about, not random anonymous people.
I usually eat the crab legs and lobster(when and if they have it) to make me feel like I have had my money''s worth.
Don''t get me wrong, I love food. I love italian food most and I would rather have a beautiful plate of my favorite seafood risotto from my fav italian restaurant than anything else.

I did try the Bellagio buffet when I was in Las Vegas. Everyone told me I had to try it. It was good compared to other buffets I have been to.

We''re staying at the same place! Our package price doubled within the same week too, and I was so relieved that we got the tickets when we did! It was a total spur of the moment thing, and the cheap prices were the reason we decided to go!

I''m tall and have medium longish dirty blonde hair and will be wearing the ring in my avatar! I''ll be with 3 40-50 year old ladies that all look pretty much the same, my mom and 2 of her sisters!

ooooh, I love Vegas!! I have found that my favorite times were the "unplanned" days, where we just wandered around the strip, checking out different hotels, having drinks, gambling a little, and catching random free entertainment (Elvis, karaoke, bands, etc). Not to mention the people watching!

I agree with the buffet naysayers -- while buffets always seem like a good idea, I inevitably end up eating just salad and dessert because I am hopelessly picky about what I eat.

Have a great time!

If you guys made your room reservations through the hotel directly you should call them and see if the rates have gone down. If they have they will honor the new rates as long as you are doing it within the time they allow, usually you can make changes/cxl 48-72hrs prior. Hey, more money to shop, eat, or gamble with!

Tawn,
When exactly will you be there? We will be there from Nov. 28 - dec.2. If that''s your time, I will be looking for your fabulous ring!

I have heard one downside about the West wing at the MGM - apparently the doors to the bathrooms are nonexistant (I don''t know if they are glass, or what that means). Unfortunately, my husband is very private about his bathroom time and he is not too pleased about this. Everything else sounds great though!

I am not sure that I like the idea of a 5 hour drive to see the Grand Canyon, maybe the helicopter rides are the way to go after all.

Can''t help noticing that no-one is suggesting any fab shopping destinations.....I figure that there probably aren''t any real deals to be had, just excess everything!

We will probably go to Le Cirque and Emeril''s for dinner and I am going online now to book O!

Cool.....

Bellagio''s "Sensi" is one of the best in all - design, service and food itself. It''s the one with water on the wall.
Have fun!

jcrow--if you have your heart set on hooverdam and the grand canyon, please look into the helocopter ride tours...it is exhilarating and much faster than driving and dealing with traffic, not to mention very romantic. I went with my husband and another couple last fall on Thanksgiving weekend, and you fly over Lake Mead, the Hoover dam, and a lot of other great views you miss when driving. It is all set to music and your pilot tells you all about whatever you are flying over the whole way. Then you land IN the Grand Canyon and have a little picnic of appetizers and CHAMPAGNE, take pictures, etc., then fly back. It takes about 4 hours total. We originally wanted to drive out to the dam and the canyon, but realized we wouldn''t have that much time. It was such a great experience. I was really freaked out in the helocopter on the way there, but I got over it fast. You would really love it, and you can find some great deals...probably $200-$300 per person. We bought the DVD of our excursion and it was well worth the $40! Just an FYI...hope you have a wonderful time no matter what you decide to do!

I''ve also heard fabulous things about Fellini''s at Stratosphere...it''s generic italian food for simple bumpkins like me...but they have rave reviews....SO cheap too.... So I think we''ll do N9ne or Prime for Steak, the Buffet for Fun, Fellini''s ... so only one other night to book for dinner

I''m going from the 13th to the 18th! And, I don''t feel bad about leaving my hubby at home! He hates Vegas and hates too gamble! It''s going to be fun going with my Aunts and Mom!

There is a pretty large mall down on the end of the strip by the new Wynn hotel...and we''re going to do a shop there. I haven''t shopped in Vegas before. All the stores in the Casinos are pretty swanky and I''m not much of a sequin girl! But, the mall has the usual department stores...and I think there is a Ross dress for Less as well.

The mall you are referring to is called the Fashion Show Mall. It''s the only mall (besides the ones in casinos) that has decent stores. Just in case your curious to see what stores they have here is their website. http://www.thefashionshow.com/ They actually have a lot of good restaraunts too. Maggianos is really good if you like Italian food, and for those of you who were looking for Sushi, They have a great Sushi restaraunt called Ra. I forgot about Ra since I stick to my local Sushi place unless I head down to the strip. If you are into tapas Cafe Ba Ba Reeba is good also as long as you dont go hungry I guess.
