The information you''ve given isn''t enough to determine cut quality, but as far as value, I''d say that I personally feel VVS2 for earrings is way overkill.

Earrings aren''t viewed nearly as closely as engagement rings, and you''re paying a hefty premium for VVS2 when you wouldn''t see a difference going to VS2 or SI1, esp in that size.

Jsstrong,

Both are probably fantastic stones. Deciding on whether the value is appropriate is a matter of comparing with similar deals from other sources. The database at the top of the page lists several other stones with those same general specifications from different suppliers and each has a different argument for why you should buy from them instead of their competitors. Look at the things that are important to you about the deal and then check to see if the competitors offer an acceptable substitute for less money. It may be the gemological properties of the stone, it may be something like the trade in program or just the notoriety of the dealer. It may be something else entirely. Not everyone is looking for the same things. If you spot something from one of their competitors that trips your fancy, go back to the first offer and see what they have to offset it. After a little bit of this exercise you will have a pretty good idea of what bundle of attributes you want and what is an appropriate price to pay for them.

Alj,

Both diamonds are listed for sale in the PS database and the seller reports both to be ''ideal'' cut although they don''t give much explaination about what they mean by that.
