I’m so upset with myself.

I drove a few of my coworkers to lunch (we take turns). I decided to park on the very last spot so that my car doesn’t get scratched up (Miami is awful with that). As I was pulling into the space I said “I’m going to park here because I’m trying to preserve this car for as long as possible.”

Right when I said that I hear a loud scratch. Apparently I didn’t see the huge piece of the sidewalk that was sticking out and I banged my spoiler right up against it. One of the clips that hold it in place is missing and I have a huge scratch.

Doh!

I''m not generally a vain person but I plan on having my car for at least 8 to 10 years so a big ole scratch with one year down and 9 to go is a

Guess I spoke to soon.

Any other doh! moments so that I don''t feel so bad

Fiery~

I''m so sorry about your car!

If it makes you feel any better, I''ve got one for you:

My Mom has a 1999 Ford Mustang that she LOVES. This car lives in the garage, and comes out only on days when there''s not a cloud in the sky and the temperature is 75 degrees exactly, and only if it''s Tuesday afternoon! LOL!

A few years ago, my Stepdad was replacing the shingles on their roof. He was up on the roof pulling off the old shingles, and throwing them into a wheelbarrow that was parked in the driveway. My Mom either didn''t realize or simply forgot that the wheelbarrow was there. She opened the garage door and backed her Mustang out . . . smack into the wheelbarrow!!!

There were tears, LOTS of tears, and she said some words she didn''t even know she knew! LOL!

Oh no! That sucks! I''m sorry :/ At least it is just a surface thing, you can fix it.

Just earlier today, I was telling a co-worker about something I was working on that was confusing me, and I said, "I''m not going to save this until our manager gets to look at it."

And then promptly hit save.

I felt like an idiot lol.

this should make you feel better!

in high school i was a small group leader for the middle school youth group at my church. one evening after the group was over i was taking one of the girls home and i was trying to maneuver my car out of the back of the lot. the group was held in a big barn and the parking lot behind it was a little small. so i''m zig zagging out of the lot and i take the corner around the barn a little close and i hear a loud SSSHHH and my heart just dropped. i had hit a BARN. i had a huge scratch/dent that ran from the middle of the passenger side door to nearly the gas cap (it was a two door escort).

i never bothered to get it fixed, but when i gave/sold the car to my FI his dad made him get it cleaned up. i think it cost almost 1k!

. but he did get the added pleasure of telling anyone who would listen that i had hit a barn.

Booo, that first scratch or dent is always a bummer with a new car. That bites big time. Sorry fieryred.

The worst D''oH moment I had was at work once when I was walking back to my office from someone''s cubicle who had recommened that we send a file to the recovery unit. And they had an appropriate acronym, AIR... So I loudly say "Yeah, like that will do any good, they are all a bunch of AIRheads anyway and as turned around while I was saying this, I walked smack into the vertical column holding up two cubicles and it almost sounded like a broke a bone in my foreward.

OMG, look who was the AIRhead is NOW!!! D''oH

I am so embarrassed to admit this, but I will.

I was grocery shopping with one of my grandson''s day before yesterday. I was turning the corner in the isle, when he pointed at something that he would like to have. I wasn''t paying attention and I rammed right into the small wine display. The whole display came crashing down. What a big fat mess
23.gif
I could have died right on the spot. My grandson''s eyes were huge when he said "Nana look what YOU just did".

The clerks were wonderful, I offered to pay for the wine that was destroyed, but they said no. I have been going to that grocery store for 23 years, maybe that is why they let me off easy.

That was a big fat DOH for me.

fieryred- I feel your pain. I backed my new car into the mailbox across the street from my inlaws a week after I got it.

Small dent in car, mailbox survived okay - but my embarassment level was through the roof! I am soooo paranoid now when I go over there!

fiery, I hit two polls within the first week of driving. The first in a fast food parking lot during off-campus lunch, the second in the parking area of an apt. complex where a friend lived. All together I''ve been hit 6 times and been the cause of 4 accidents (the two polls, a minor fender bender during a left hand turn (I didn''t hear a siren because my stereo was on too loud and I rolled into the car in front of me) and a spinout/rollover). I am the queen of car accidents...knock on wood I haven''t been in one in at least 5 years.

As for other d''oh moments, I have one almost every day.

All the time! I think I am getting dumber with age. I blame it on "mommy brain."

All the time! My biggest car d''oh! was when I was in hs. We had a long, straight driveway, and my brother often parked behind me, so if he was home when I left, I would have to drive up, turn the wheel, and back out to the left of his car. However, my brother was older, and not home a lot, so I got used to just backing straight down.

One day I was on my way to work and my brother wasn''t home. I think I was fighting with my then bf and was in a hurry, but I remember not really thinking when I got in the car. And I put it in reverse, and backed RIGHT INTO MY MOM''S FRIEND''S CAR! I knew my mom''s friend was visiting, her car was clearly visible behind me, but I must have had one major blind spot. The worst part was that she had just had it painted and although the damage wasn''t bad, there was a scratch on her license plate holder that had been painted.

Then, because that made me really late to work (I had to track down my mom and her friend, who had taken my mom''s car to go out), I was really hurrying, hit a curb, and got a flat tire on the way to work!
