E-Ring Advice for Newbie - Pleaseeee!

Hi all,

I have been reading posts on this forum for a month now preparing myself for the big purhcase. Based on the advice of several members, I have contacted Whiteflash to pursue my options. I am interested in the following two settings but have some concerns over the setting material, 14K white gold. Based on several comments from other postings I was under the impression that platinum and 18k white gold are the best, thus my concern. They are listed below.

What are your thoughts?

Also included below are the diamonds Julie recommended - I must say they are very nice there. Like everyone, I am looking for the most bang for my buck. I also am not one for trading in for a bigger diamond down the road, based on discussions with my GF at least.
