We do. The rules of thumb out there -- to insure for enough to pay all debts and allow your spouse to maintain your standard of living for 5 years -- resulted in a frankly absurd amount of insurance and monthly cost. So we talked about it and thought about what each of us would do if the other died, where we would live etc. And settled on an amount that was reasonable. We are both insured for the same amount.
If my husband dies I will sell our home and downsize and perhaps even move closer to family, and our insurance is enough to give me a healthy nest egg through that process.
