Hi,

I''ve decided on my setting (from much help from people on PS - thanks!) and want to decide on a diamond by the end of the week. I might be splitting hairs, but I wanted to see if I''ve missed something. Opinions are most welcome.

Here are my requirements:
1.15- 1.25 carat (big range I know), RB, F VS1/VS2. Probably going to get my setting from WF, so I''ll probably end up choosing a diamond from there as well. Either ACA or Expert Selection Cut.

Not sure if it is worth the extra $1K for the slightly bigger diamond.

First choice: (ACA) $9989.
1.22 F VS1 1.7-EX
ex-vg-vg-vg 0
H&A
ACA 60.6% 55% 34.9° 40.9°
thn-med-f pt id id neg 6.94-6.98x4.22

Second choice: (ES) $9729
1.22 F VS1 1.4-EX
ex-ex-ex-vg 0 60.9% 55% 34.9° 40.8°
thn-med-f pt ex ex neg 6.95-6.97x4.24

Third choice (ES) $8917
1.152 F VS2 1.3-EX
ex-ex-ex-vg 0
H&A
ACA 60.9% 54.9% 34.8° 40.8°
thn-med pt id id neg 6.79-6.81x4.14

Thanks again everyone!

I like the first one best, and the third one seems to be an ACA as well.

I doubt you''d be able to tell a difference in the sze of those three. It''s the VS2 that probably contributes to the lower price of #3. But because the inclusions are near the edges and probably very hard to see, I''d probably vote for #3 and put the $1000 toward the setting.

The first one says it is sold, did you buy it?

I agree. If money is tight, I''d definitely go with the third and splurge on the setting though, I don''t think you''ll be losing much but a little size.

I put the first one on hold for now. Thanks for noticing. :)

But I''m really debating whether the extra 1K is worth the extra 0.07 and additional clarity. hmmm....

Thanks,

My vote is for the 1.152 ACA diamond. Any of them will be stunning, but the ACA''s are absolute eye-poppers!

Good luck Vince! Did you decide on the setting yet? 2 or 3 point shared prong?

N'ah.. up from VS2, I don't think there will be any visible difference, unless you give some personal meaning to the V-S-1 symbols or something

There isn't much of a size difference between the two either (a tenth of a milimeter... is not that much, even for diamonds... and neither is small!).

This may not be the best moment... since you have a stone on hold, but still, I was wondering abut another one on the list:

There is no link from GoodOldGold yet, but the listing reads:

1.274cts, F, SI1, HCA- 0.9-EXex-ex-ex-ex
30.gif
Cut: H&A - AGS0
depth: 60.2%
table: 55%
crown: 34.7°
pavilion: 40.7°
girlde: 0.8-3.5
finish: id-id
Fluorescence:no
size: 7.05-7.07*4.25
price: ~8300

Oh Vince,

I adore them all! You could choose any one of them and know you are getting a killer, top-of-the-line performer. I really don''t have much else to offer... all the numbers on each stone are cherry... I was trying hard to find something, ANYTHING
2.gif
to "pick on" to eliminate one or more from the running... and I just can''t find a darn thing wrong with any of them!!!!

If you haven''t done so already, I would ask Brian''s opinion. If there is some subtle, nearly-imperceptible nuance of "personality" that makes one stone a little more lively than another, you can be confident that his eyes would find it.

Other than that suggestion, I have nothing else to offer. You found three beautiful diamonds! Good job!

Thanks for all the advice and all the complements and help over the last couple of weeks. I have been on this forum night and day looking at old postings and advice!

I thought I was done, my setting was chosen (w/ 0.03c ACA''s) but then I went to a local jeweler just now and she showed me a D color and F color diamond. I''m not sure if it was her diamonds, but the D color looked so much better and clearer when put side by side compared to the F.

I think I''ll still end up choosing #1, but is there a noticable difference between D and F since they are still both colorless?

Thanks again everyone,
Vince

Don''t worry about replying to my previous post. I am doing a SEARCH on the topic (D F color difference) and know now that it has been covered many times already.

Thanks,

If the extra $1K was manageable, I''d likely pick #1. That stone is more of a classic cut with more of the on-off scint popping, and I prefer that look.

If the extra $1k was a stretch, I could easily be happy with any of the 3. All are beautiful selections.

Make sure that if you saw those stones side by side they were similar cut. That could possibly skew your viewpoint by not holding everything constant.

Thanks for everyone''s help. I ended up choosing number #3 and spending more on the setting (1/2 eternity style).

1.152 ACA Round Diamond from WF
F color
VS2
AGS 000

I spoke to Brian from WF and he said that this diamond was very good and the prongs could hide up the small inclusions on the side of the diamond.

For the setting, I ended up getting 0.03c ACA melee (10 in total) with a 2.2-2.3 mm band. I''ll probably go with the same 4-prong head as Lynn B''s.

Thanks again for everyone''s help.
