Secretary Clinton picked Senator Tim Kaine to be her running mate. I do not think it came as a big surprise after the last few days in which the public was prepared for the announcement. He is a former Governor of Virginia. In fact, he was the governor when I lived there, which was during the time the massacre took place at Virginia Tech. He is incredibly seasoned; very well-liked everywhere and known as a gentleman; on The Senate Foreign Relations Committee; and felt to be someone who could easily take over as the presidency.
