I too am sentimental and wore a herloom jewellry piece for my wedding, that is wonderful you have it.
I am curious, is there anyone who can explain the star in the star sapphire? Is it the cut or a flaw?

To ScorpioAnne''s point - I understand that stars in gems are a natural phenomenon enhanced by the cut of the stone called asterism. Any pro''s out there care to enlighten us further? How do you tell a star is hiding in the rough?

By the way, I love the photo you took among the Christmas ornaments. It just brought the color to icy life.
