It's also very normal in a recession...the opportunity cost of labor is less for women (i.e., if it's harder to kick butts, take names, and make a lot of $) it makes sense for them to take this time to have babies because they lose less money/job promotions. Just a normal thing.

Now that''s exactly what a country in crisis needs: a bigger population.

What exactly is the premise? Men aren''t returning to war after years away; sheer optimism is supposed to be the catalyst here?

It wouldn''t hurt the U.S. to have just a little circumspection. And save the dancing in the streets until our major problems are handled.

I agree with Holly, a little too early to be dancing in the streets. Between the incoming immigration reform and a surge in new babies, can you imagine how crowded the schools will be? Property taxes are not going down in this situation...
