Can someone show me what nice pink tourmalines are supposed to look like?

My friend is expecting her first daughter in October (maybe September if baby is early) but it sounds like October is more likely. I was thinking about gifting her baby her birthstone earrings if they pierce her ears. But I don’t know the first thing about tourmalines (figured they’d be a better pick than opals for a young child) and need help. This is meant to be a post-baby gift. I already got them a bunch of baby necessities so no rush on it. I’m just so slow to make decisions that I figured I better start looking into it.

I have one which is cotton candy pink, not the ideal color but I really like it. Purchased from master cut gems

My unpopular opinion: baby earrings are so small the cut/color doesn’t matter a ton. Would get them in a bezeled setting if possible though for less snagging potential. Pink tourmalines come in every shade so you have lots of choice!

My experience with tourmaline is smaller sizes the color do not show up vividly compared to bigger sizes.
One thing interesting about tourmalines is that most of them do have multiple axis of colors. Pink ones will have a brownish axis and will make the color not 100% pink.

Very vivid in pink. Color is subjective though, as you might like pale pinks. I would just be careful they don’t shift to a very brownish pink in some lighting. The round stones are tourmaline from Nigeria. They stay vivid in all light sources.

Both pink stones in my pictures are tourmalines. I am partial to hot pink and I think tourmalines are great value if you’re not in the price bracket for mahenge spinels. No brown at all. If anything they may lean slightly magenta in photos. 82EB0714-9678-4C4B-B67C-01D47200A1E1.jpeg 38197A9A-016C-4E1E-853F-AFF62D4334E0.jpeg

This is mine. I have it set in a pendant. Don't have any pics of it in the setting

This is one of my favorite pink tourmalines. Unless you're looking at a rubellite (the hot pink to reds) You more then often might be looking at something like this, or, something on the peachy side. I love that mine is somewhat unusual as it has quite a lot of purple flashes at times, and in full sun and sometimes jewlery store lighting turns purple with pink flashes. why it does that, I have no idea, but its a fun stone to have.
