What is this dark ring in the pavilion of this stone? A reflection of the girdle or table? What is it caused by and How will it affect the face up appearance of the stone. Educational purposes only not to buy.

You don't need to start a new thread. Just ask this question in the old thread you had already started.

Karl, He's talking about the ring under the table. I've circled it here:

Do you have an IS or ASET image for the stone?

This one has a bit less mush than the one in question but it has the same circle.
It is common in many modified cushions of different pavilion designs and is caused by mush.
aka groups of ineffective virtual facets.
Do a search for mushy cushions for more info.

Thanks Karl,
In your opinion is this stone an absolute dog or an average cut cushion or an above average cushion for generally whats on the market.
Do you think the dark ring will be noticeable like a fish eye effect.

I am not willing to make that call based on one image.
There are certainly cushions of the same facet pattern out there with less slush.
Under the right lighting it is likely eye visible in places but not as bad as a true fish eye.

Google: mushy cushions site:www.pricescope.com

Searching from ps they are on the second page of results.
I usually get better results going directly to google and using site:www.pricescope.com

ASET shows lots of mush even more than the regular picture.

The picture is of a fairly square stone. The ASET of a stone that is clearly rectangular? I'm not sure those match one another.
