hmm, don't only 5% of American's earn 250k or more. eta: sorry if I am getting off track here but when I see people talk about $250k earners I am always thinking, it is a very small amount that actually earn that amount. Factcheck came up with 3% of households. http://www.factcheck.org/askfactcheck/what_percentage_of_the_us_population_makes.htmlDate: 10/19/2008 9:26:05 PM

Thanks Skippy! I'd just like to be able to calculate it since it's Obama's magic number. I see a big difference between $250k and $500k for example.

eta: here is some fun info on household income http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Household_income_in_the_United_States
Great, I was amazed at how many people made so little living paycheck to paycheck. I volunteered for 2 years doing low income taxes and the stats are quite eye opening or at least for me they are.Date: 10/19/2008 9:46:34 PM
