Blue Nile is approximately four times the size of its next online competitor and holds 50 percent market share for engagement rings. Overstock and Amazon have not had much success at the high end, Vadon said, primarily due to brand image and their lack of appeal to the luxury market.
With 3 percent of the engagement ring market share, Blue Nile hopes to capture between 15 and 20 percent share, as it grows its non-engagement jewelry sales.
