What is the best/typical method of insuring a ring? I just got my GF''s e-ring today and want to get it insured before the weekend/proposal. Should I add a rider to my homeowner''s? What are other methods? BTW, I figured I''d just use the appraisal that came with the ring.

With some companies, you may not be able to use the appraisal that came with it, they might want to send you to one of their appraisers for a new appraisal. Run a check on the ''search'' feature on this site. Type in ''insurance'' or even some insurance company names, and see what you come up with in terms of what others here at PS have done or recommend. Good Luck, and congrats on your purchase!!!

I went through Chubb. I got backup appraisals and they were all about the same. I went with an average.
