I can say from experience that repeated clapping will bend a ring. My 10K gold high school ring, and 2 14K gold rings I had were all bent from cheerleading. Keep in mind though, that this was over time. I can''t imagine a ring bending from one concert!

I remember clapping hard at high school basketball games while wearing my 10k class ring as well, and ended up bruising the opposite palm of my hand badly. Ever since then, I don''t clap my hands against the back of a ring.

Just wondering if others have noticed bruising from clapping their hand against the back of their ring? Or do most people do what I do now, which is never clap against my rings? I don''t get as loud a sound, but I save my hands, and apparently, my jewelry as well.

Or a ring on the opposite hand?

I have to say this scares me away from platinum. I am a little rough on my hand (underside especially)
I think it depends on how thin the ring is. I have a heavy "heirloom" grade platinum ring that isn''t going to bend from picking up a heavy suitcase, for example. But, a very thin or fragile ring could bend under pressure, no matter what the metal.

If you are rough with your hands, I would get a heavier ring without embedded side stones.
