Tired of waiting for PS 2.0!

Here's the wax for setting my Roger Dery Rhodolite Asscher. It's going to be oxidized silver (because i love the look) and 18k gold bezel. The little screws are for the bezeled cognac diamonds (2mm or so). The ring a size 9.75, the asscher is 9.9x9.9mm for reference. (And it's a guy's ring.)

I do not have great imagination, but the setting seems modern and strong, and I really like the stone!

i wanted to ask if you plan on having a hollow back or a solid back?
there must be a lot of gold going into this ring

I love the look!

However, I do have some issues with it:
- I think the gold bezel is too heavy and wide. I am afraid it may overwhelm the ring
- It may be the angle of the picture, but the ring''s symmetry seems somehow off
- I don''t like the placement of the cognac diamonds. Once again, the symmetry seems off (instead of being in the middle of the bezel side, it seems to be off to right).

Crasu: Thanks, I'll be posting the finished version hopefully in the next several weeks!

Haagen: The asscher is 7.0mm deep, and most of the ring is going to be oxidized silver. (It's solid, and over an oz of metal.) I'll upload a pic of an oxidized sterling ring from Art that I have in the next post.

Lady Disdain: Yup, the lines are off, but that's because this is more like a sketch waiting for approval. The detailing like the lines and placement will get cleaned up now that I gave the general okay on the direction the ring is taking. The process on this ring is a little unusual since we didn't do sketches, so it's kind more like a wax CAD. I'm attaching the initial wax where the initial shape was determined.

Then all is good! I love the ring that you posted. The gold gives the ring a level of sophistication and elegance that the oxidized silver alone would probably lack (and I am a huge fan of silver). What is the stone on that ring? My guess would be jet, but that is normally given a smoother finish.

another questio
you mentioned that its going to be a gold bezel. is the gold from the octagon shape going to fold over and hold the rhodolite in place?

Lady Disdain: The black stone is onyx that was textured to match the shank.

Mark: For silver, the main tradeoff is that some people might balk at paying custom prices for something that''s mostly silver. Since this design isn''t super delicate, there isn''t the concerns about the relative softness of silver for setting the stone. For me, it''s mainly a design choice to get that specific finish. And, yes, the gold octagon is the bezel.

Lauren and Sarah: Thanks!
