Can anyone recommend an independent appraiser in the NYC area?

I want to have the diamond we are buying appraised before it''s set - you know, just to be sure it matches the GIA certificate.

Then, my next question...once I know that the diamond I am buying matches the GIA certif - is it just a matter of trust that the diamond in my ring is the same diamond that was certified and appraised or do I have to have ANOTHER appraisal after the ring is in my hands??

If you look in the appraisers section of pricescope you will see several in the NYC area. Robert Aretz is a good one, too and is not listed. He is on 5th Ave where David Wolf also has his offices.
