It's set in a place where the people are divided into different factions when they're 16 (they get to choose where they would like to be after taking a test to advise them where they should go based on personality traits) based on their core values. Candor values truth at all costs. Dauntless values bravery. Erudite values intelligence. Abnegation values selflessness. And Amity values kindness. For their first 16 years, they are raised in the faction of their parents and after the choosing ceremony, they get to go to a new faction or stay put, depending on what they value most. If they choose a different faction, their faction needs to come before blood and they basically do not get to see their families again. When doing the test to give a recommendation for the faction they should choose, they can also come up as Divergent, or having the personality/values to show they believe in many things all at once. This is basically treasonous and anyone who is divergent will be murdered.
I really like it thus far! I'm almost all the way through and really like the way that the main characters are growing and how the true nature of their society is coming out. Everything seems hunky-dory at first and then it sort of flips mid book. I like it and plan to pick up the next book as soon as I finish this one, which will probably happen tomorrow lol
Come on people, lets get this thing moving again!

I haven't read this yet. The first book (is that Divergent?) seems to have gotten really good reviews, but I've read mixed responses to the second in the series. I'll probably read them anyway, but I'm going to admit that I'm getting a little tired of the YA dystopian trend.

Let me know what you think of Divergent! I just placed Finnikin on my 'books I want to read' list!

I picked up another book last weekend but I forget the title. I'll update tomorrow

I'm starting the last book in the fallen series, I'll see how it goes. I finally read the hunger games and loved it.
