AGS0 Princess Reports

Why does it appear that AGS is issuing different reports for princess cut diamonds that do not grade AGS0 or AGS1. It appears that princess stones that grade lower are not assigned an AGS score. Rather, the reports just list the measurements. I''m really curious.

I''ve seen AGS reports with the same February 24, 2006 date that look completely different. The AGS0 reports actually listed the stone as AGS0. The other appeared written on the old report forms. Please explain if you know.

the difference you are probably seeing is between the more extensive diamond quality document (dqd) which has a grade for light performance and the diamond quality report (dqr) which does not. ags also changed their grading system last year, so any differences could be of a different report style as well.

Since many people are buying paper rather than diamonds many vendors will find out what the stone would grade out with a full Diamond Quality Document and if it is not going to receive an AGS 0 or 1 then they will opt to go for the Diamond Quality Report which will list the color and clarity but not the cut grade as it can be nearly impossible to sell a stone with an AGS 4 or 5 cutting grade. if the grade is listed on the report.

Since most princess cut diamonds will not get the coveted AGS 0 or 1 grade you will see many many of them without the cut grade listed on the report.
