Gotcha.

Are you saying she prefers the shape more "square"? Does she like "asscher" cut?

cheers--Sharon

Not quite that square....how about "squarish"?

So, what are your thoughts on the specific emerald posted above? I started a specific topic on that stone but nobody has responded. I guess there is no love for emeralds...

Oh no so! Karl--our "in house"/resident expert (who created the Octavia cut) provides very prudent advice! We have many emerald cut lovers here....

cheers--Sharon

Excellent! How does one get Karl's attention? Is there a "Karl" signal (a la the Bat-Signal)?

I sent Karl a message alerting him to this thread-hopefully he'll get it soon :)

Mean while I've been searching for a vintage rings that might fit the bill.

This is an old mine cut diamond ring-with filigree and engraving. Not sure if this would be something she would like but doesn't hurt to link you to it!

Now this style isn't for everyone but I think it's unique and beautiful! It's got an old mine cut in the center flanked by rose cuts and in the cluster/halo style she likes and it's made around 1830!

Wow - great stuff! It is so easy to get sidetracked. I particularly like the platinum cluster ring on Ebay!

Can you get more pictures of the EC and the crown height?
So far it isn't to bad.
Table size is about in the middle of the smaller tabled modern and the large tabled classics.
Depending on CH could go either way.
If she likes really flashy EC's then one with a smaller table and high crown might be better.

edit: also ask what caused the low polish grade and what facets are involved and if it affects the light return.

vintagelover229: thanks for the heads up. I am very busy these days.

The video didn't really help because it is still leaning on the pavilion which is a poor way to tell what they are doing.
The crown height did look reasonable but some numbers or side closeups would be nice.

I have asked about the CH. As far as the polish the seller assures me that it has the proper amount of brilliance and that I should not be concerned.

Aside from the CH does everything else look in order? Should I be concerned about the polish or the flaw?

Thank you for your help!

Does the diamond have a return policy? Because I would have to see it in person to know whether that inclusion would bother me. And in fact, I just wouldn't buy a diamond that didn't have an unconditional return policy. It looks like a pretty stone in the video, though!

Ditto- if you can see it for Yourself and then return if you're unhappy that would be the route I would go.

Amys Blind and Diamondseeker,

The seller appears to be fairly well known on this forum (in fact the shop was suggested earlier in this thread). I assume there is a return policy. I will be speaking with him today and seeing if I can get the stone to me for a look. I am not wild about the inclusion...

Does anyone else have an opinion on that specific EC? I would hate to waste time, money and effort getting a diamond shipped to me if it is obviously not a decent stone.
