Diffused is another choice as Chrono mentioned........there is also a nice synthetic Michael E corundum at 8.4 mm on loupe troop for $210. Very affordable if you are open to that, but it is Blue, not red........

How about a Montana sapphire?

Here is one that is a 7.58 mm from Blaze that is an octagon. It might fit into a round setting if it has prongs?:

I think she said sapphire was on the ok to buy list....once could do worse than a Michael E cut stone even if it is synthetic.

Maybe I didn't write that clearly........just bringing a different direction (pulled sapphire rough) for thought since the Michael E gem was closer to the original size that was mentioned and is quite nice. Sorry if that wasn't clear..............

I think this is a great contender if synthetics are an option.
