ACS Tourmalines

So, I picked up two tourmalines in Barry''s recent sale. The pink/purple brilliant cut (1.57 ct, 7.2mm) is incredible -- it looked darkish in his pictures and is very bright and colorful in person. Much prettier than Barry''s picture. The green EC (2.90 cts, 9.4x7.2mm) is interesting -- really pretty blue-green in some lights and in others it is easy to see the yellow/green axis in the center of the stone. And yes, I do have little finger hairs and pores that are hugely magnified in hand shots....

Here''s the pink tourmaline with some gemmy buddies -- the ACS tourmaline just purchased is the fourth stone from the left. The stone to its right is an umbalite also cut by Barry.

The green tourmaline is a bit more camera-shy and looked weird in most pictures. At first I waffled about keeping it, but it will look great in a pendant and may make a good Christmas gift for my MIL. Here it is with two of my tsavorites.

I''m looking at another tsav and wee emerald to add to my collection DH and I are going to Napa for the weekend, so I''m hoping for some setting inspirations. I look at all the settings on here, but there are so many gorgeous ones that it is hard to pick just one...
