Hi all:

I need your advice.
I am looking at this diamond:
http://www.whiteflash.com/hearts_arrows/A-Cut-Above-H-A-cut-diamond-1358317.htm

If my input to HCA are:
Depth % = 61.1
Table % = 55
Crown angle = 34.7
Pavilion angle = 40.9
Culet % = 0
HCA score is 1.6

But if the input are:
Depth % = 61.1
Table % = 55
Crown % = 15.5
Pavilion % = 43.1
Culet % = 0
HCA score is 1.1

How come the two result are different?
Any kind soul can help me ?

Thanks

Angles are more accurate than percentages and this is why you get a different score on the HCA. Best to use the angles for most accuracy and go by those scores. Lovely diamond by the way - I took a peek at it! Usually if you have both the percents and angles, don't worry too much about the percentages.

Hi Lorelei:

Thanks for your quick reply.

From what I learn, 1.6 of HCA is not a great score, even though the its ideal scope picture is great.

Huh? You''ve got more reading to do - a 1.6 IS great. Anything under a 2 is great...........

It''s an ACA stone. And remember you are buying the stone, not the paper!

Frankly say, I am a newbie.
And I have no way to view the diamond if I purchase it from internet.
Therefore, I have to set my requirement strictly.

Thanks for you help.

In that case you have done very well and made a great choice. Don''t forget that WF has a return policy if you are in any way unhappy with the diamond, but I doubt that will be the case!

Sorry - that sounded a bit harsh, eh?

But seriously - you just can''t go wrong with an ACA stone. Many (most?) of us have purchased from internet vendors mentioned here, and they are all great to deal with, with generous return policies, etc. Don''t worry!

Welcome to pricescope Khalix! We were all newbies here once. It is scary making a significant purchase sight unseen over the internet, but you really have selected a diamond with very nice numbers there. Most of my diamonds have come from brick and mortar jewelry stores, but I recently purchased a bracelet from Whiteflash that contains their ACA diamonds and they are simply breathtaking!

Thanks for your reply.

How about this one:
http://www.whiteflash.com/hearts_arrows/A-Cut-Above-H-A-cut-diamond-1955244.htm

HCA is good, score 1. And it fulfills class1A of the "American Ideal Cut". But its ideal scope picture shows minor of leakage. Some say minor leakage make diamond looks "brighter", how true is it?

How would you choose?

1) 0.39 carat A Cut Above H&A Diamond
http://www.whiteflash.com/hearts_arrows/A-Cut-Above-H-A-cut-diamond-1358317.htm

2) 0.385 carat A Cut Above H&A Diamond
http://www.whiteflash.com/hearts_arrows/A-Cut-Above-H-A-cut-diamond-1955244.htm

Thanks in advance!!!

there is not really enough ''leakage'' in that diamond to make any real visual impact.

both are fantastic. truly. if you had them side by side, i am sure you would not be able to tell them apart.
you can''t go wrong with either one, so make a pick and know you are getting a beautiful diamond!

best of luck!

I agree with Belle, I think you have found two winners there. I would not be concerned with the minor light leakage on the second stone at all. Both have excellent HCA scores.
