IDI Opens Gem Testing Laboratory

(Rapaport…December 8, 2004) The Israel Diamond Institute (IDI) has opened a gemological laboratory to provide diamond evaluation services, Managing Director Efraim Raviv told Rapaport News.
The laboratory, which started operations earlier this week, will charge $7 per diamond.

(Rapaport…December 8, 2004) The Israel Diamond Institute (IDI) has opened a gemological laboratory to provide diamond evaluation services, Managing Director Efraim Raviv told Rapaport News.
The IDI has set up a new company to run the laboratory called IDI International Gemological Laboratory Ltd.
While the laboratory will examine diamonds for color, clarity and other characteristics, it does not yet issue certification, although it hopes to do so in the near future. The IDI has issued certificates in the past but only on a small scale.
The laboratory, which started operations earlier this week, will charge $7 per diamond.
