Out of the 100 I have completed only the 6 listed below.
Maybe that's why I'm so out of touch.
Ignorance is bliss.

I just finished The Wire and agree it's excellent, but I'd put it behind:
The Crown,
Downton Abby
The Queen's Gambit

I also completed Orange is the New Black, and Louie but I'd put them behind the 4 above.

Not that I disagree, but the one that sticks out to me is RuPauls drag race! It's the only (that I know from this list) reality TV show, but has been hugely influential for many people so it's pretty cool to see it up there.

My husband watched and loved the wire and has been bugging me to watch it... maybe I will give it a try during the upcoming hibernation season.

No Ted Lasso?

I happen to think it’s fun and wonderfully cast. But more importantly, it is and was much appreciated as escapist entertainment for the pandemic that will be one of the defining events of this time period.

BTW I’ll admit that I watched very little TV at the beginning of this period - and then, mostly broadcast TV. So obviously my popular TV knowledge base is limited, based largely on what others have had to say, and more than a little pedestrian. But it does seem this list is skewed towards dark and edgy… perhaps by definition? I don’t watch it much these days, but I think the recent quest for a new host showed Jeopardy to have considerable cultural significance.

I'm surprised not to see the Supranos, West Wing or Friends on the list. I'd have them all in the top ten along with Dexter and Battlestar Galactica.

I can only say that it is obvious neither Resa or I will ever be considered TV experts. We disliked most of the shows on the list for a variety of reasons...

The shows that we love(d) are mostly not on the list. These are the shows with good people as the protagonists, such as Blue Bloods, Madam Secretary and West Wing.

I am just as happy never to be an expert of TV, I would rather spend my time playing with rocks...

Game of Thrones is the series we love to hate. Great books but the tv version ended with a massive flop. It should be way lower on the list.

Agree that Queen's Gambit should be much higher on the list. Also agree with the Dexter mention, even though that was another floppy-ender.

I'm surprised Nurse Jackie isn't here. Great, gritty storytelling. Also Sens8, for being visually stunning in addition to touching on gender topics that tv shows normally shy away from.

I adored Normal People, it was incredible and I'd rank it pretty high. The Split was also very good, the BBC knows what they're doing. And I too think The Queen's Gambit should be higher.

I have only finished three on the list.

Chernobyl -- very good but some difficult parts. Dogs especially hard to watch...

LOST -- good, not sure if I would call it great. We have watched it a few times now. Definitely not a casual watch in the background sort of series.

Band of Brothers -- excellent

We did watch some seasons of 24 and Battlestar Galactica. They had good parts, but really didn't hold our attention. BG especially went from very promising to meh at one point.

Poirot (though that started in 1989)

I have not seen most of these. ER is not on the list...too old I guess; yet watching George Clooney never gets old....

Just rewatched DA. I'd forgotten the first seasons.......and I enjoyed QG stylized entertainment. GOT I watched under duress LOL (stuck at home, DH watching...) and it was not my cup of tea . Schitz Creek was awesome--I grew up with Gene L and Katherine O'Hara in second city review so watching them seemed like a no brainer.

So yeah I agree with much of the list and what I haven't watched I cannot comment about but for the most part the shows I have watched and liked are on the list and pretty good. Some better than others but all in all better TV than many shows that didn't make the list. IMO. I am sure they left out some good ones too but none come to mind at the moment.

I resisted for years. Because of the violence. We recently watched the entire series. It is an excellent series IMO but be warned it is violent and long. However I enjoyed it for the most part and recommend it. The books are better.

I watched the first True Detective with Harrelson and McConahowever you spell it but couldn't get interested in the second one. Loved the first one, even though it was a weird story.

I’m surprised that there are some incredible animated shows missing. Steven Universe is terrible compared to something like Attack on Titan. It’s honestly ridiculous for anyone who knows anything about animated shows!

Halt and Catch Fire is very underrated, it deserves to be much, much higher than 50. Maybe top 10 for me. It really captured the feeling of the 80s well imo, and that kind of energy in the tech sector back then from the race to build home computers to the birth of web browsers. It captured me emotionally in a way that Mad Men never did. It also struck the landing beautifully, which I always give extra points for. Breaking Bad is my no. 1 if anyone wants to know.

I saw some shoutouts for Dexter and I agree that Seasons 1-3 was amazing. It should have ended then with the haunting gut punch and it would easily be top 5. But instead they chose to continue and ruined the series.

Btw if anyone enjoys K-drama, like maybe you tried out Squid Game, liked it and wondered what else to try, I have a couple of recommendations. Two shows that I consider to have perfect execution are Crash Landing On You and Misaeng. Both are on Netflix and has English subtitles. Nothing like Squid Game plotwise, one is a romance and the other is an office drama, but they have wonderful, universal themes.
