Re: Found after 70 years, someone's hope.

So, so incredibly sad. A couple of weeks ago I had the privilege of hearing my friend's great-uncle talk about his experience as a Holocaust survivor and it struck me that I'm probably part of the last generation that will get to hear these stories first hand. And I find it unbelievable that there ...

If only I could jambalaya, if only I could! I'd be one happy ostrich mama, but that's not reality....so, ongoing conversations will continue (did I mention that the kids in my son's 5th grade class found a used condom on the playground and, not knowing what it was, started playing with it!! : o :kn...

This whole thread has made me cringe ...I've been trying to ignore social media for tweens/teens because we are getting closer and closer to this age with our son (he's 11) and I'm terrified of the potential long term ramifications that things they post (or friends post about them) can have. Re: East-West set oval diamond

Guess I'm in the minority on this one, but I really prefer a N/S orientation for ovals - I think one of the prettiest features of an oval is the elegant, lengthening look it has on the finger. IMO a N/S setting adds finger presence and just looks very graceful. That said, I'm pretty traditional, an...

Re: Earring jackets - are they worth it?

I think a bezel with a halo'd jacket might be overkill, but that's just my opinion. I have the IDJ 5 pointer jackets to go with my 5.5mm studs. I just got a pair of BK leverback dangles, so they are my new fav right now, but I DO wear my jackets quite often, even with jeans. I think that they can be...

AlexT, I am so glad to hear that this is behind you! I'm glad it's over and that it went reasonably well. To echo the others, you are NOT a murderer...the farthest thing from...so get that horrible idea out of your mind!

Continue taking care of yourself and take it easy! Sending gentle ((hugs)).

Re: Hillary V. The Donald, David Duke, and Chris Christie

My fondest wish is that Donald Trump will continue to stick his feet in his mouth so often that no one in their right mind would consider voting for him. I can't imagine how anyone would vote for him even at this point. Not only is he a bully but a laughingstock to the rest of the world. He is runn...

Re: Anyone up for a challenge??

Thanks SB, pinto bean, Missy, LLJsMom and Laila. I think these are all great ideas! Yes, SB, it's sad that I can't consider a Star of David. It might be perfectly fine, but I'm just not willing to take a chance. Laila, everyone will give her money as a gift. That's kind of why I wanted to give her s...

Re: Anyone up for a challenge??

My vote is for necklace instead of earrings. Earrings get lost at a much higher rate than necklaces, in my experience (I think I could find statistics to back me up!). Young teens are especially prone to losing jewelry. Just my 2 cents. This is why my daughter in college is only allowed to wear sim...

Re: Anyone up for a challenge??

Does anyone have an irl photo of a .25ct bezel pendant? I know she's only 13, but .25 seems tiny to me. I can't picture what that would actually look like?? Thanks! I do like the DBL sapphire earrings....I think she'd like those. I'm going to send my sis some photos and see what she likes. Thanks ev...

I'd also check with IDJ...they could source additional stones and make the ring.

What about a garland style eternity? You'd either need to add stones or do a 3/4 eternity, but it's really pretty.

Re: Anyone up for a challenge??

A silver Tiffany necklace? Or you could buy the silver charm bracelet with one charm and add to it for future gifts. The young teen girls and even girls into their 20s enjoy silver Tiffany pieces. Great minds! She already has both of these (I got her the necklace for 5th grade graduation and my par...

Re: Anyone up for a challenge??

Thanks DS and lookinagain. I agree that diamonds may not be appropriate. Pearls are a nice choice, although I have a beautiful strand with a matching necklace that I almost never wear. I like those DBTY earrings....I'll see what my sister thinks.

I'm doing .54 total weight diamond by the yard studs for my nieces. For 18 they get the matching pendant....around .40....unless I break down and do it for 16.

Perfect gift imo, that will be appropriate...forever!

Deets please. Where are you getting them and cost? TIA!
