Re: wedding dress help!

Ann Taylor has some simple, classic dresses well below that price point. The silk content varies, but there are some: http://www.anntaylor.com/ann/catalog/category.jsp?trail=&pageSize=101&gridSize=md&catid=cata000034&goToPage=1&viewAll=viewAll&fRequest= BCBG has some edgier s...

Re: Diamond is not only fluorescent but phosphorescent...

That is very cool. What kind of UV emitter are you using? This is common in some other types of gemstones (tenebresecent scapolite, sodalite, hackmanite) but requires a pretty strong UV activation, and can be particular to a particular wavelength. My scapolite won't charge with a little led UV, but w...

Re: old cut ladies willing to help me look for a beauty?

This is a long shot, but before Leon Mege relaunched his website, there was an old cut that was a very low color, maybe an O or P in a Leon halo setting for a very reasonable cost. I think at one point Maisie was considering it for her upgrade. I don't see it listed now, but it was a lovely stone in...

Re: How rare is a MRB O?

I would check with Infinity Diamonds and Brian Gavin Diamonds. I have a 2 carat L/SI1 BGD Blue and it's gorgeous. It actually faces up white though-if you go for a super ideal cut they're going to face up pretty white even in lower colors. Ditto, Infinity often has low color stones in their ideal c...

This a 3 stone, but an unusual and lovely setting http://www.ebay.com/itm/14k-White-Gold-Diamond-3-Stone-UNIQUE-Twist-Wedding-Band-Ring-/121070968025?pt=US_Fine_Rings&hash=item1c30645cd9 And the DB 5 stone I linked earlier: http://www.pricescope.com/files/images/9863729_0.jpeg

mercoledi - The link didn't work for me. Can you post again? The DB site has been down most of today, I think that's what it is. If it comes back up, the ring is a lovely oec 5 stone in platinum and 18kyg. This is on ebay and Etsy; the diamonds might be so-so but it has nice presence: http://www.et...

Re: Help Me Find A Great Diamond Band For Cheap!

$575 http://diamondbistro.com/index.php?a=2&b=33484 and would have to be reshanked to get it up to a size 8, so probably at least $700 all together if you found a cheap bench to resize it.

There are a few things within budget on ebay, but with lousy photos,so it would be a big risk.

Re: WANTED: Pair of Eyes

Have you emailed Barry Bridgestock? He has (or had at one point) a lot of smaller stones that he doesn't list for sale. I know Freke once got a large parcel of them to pick through. Might be worth a try!

Re: Compare 2 GIAs. What you pick is what I buy. Please Help

In all honesty, it's impossible for any of us to know. We rely on pictures, ASET images and other quantitative indicators of performance to judge how a stone will perform in the real world without the benefit of actually laying eyes on it. Without those tools, our opinions are just opinions, not con...

Re: Too Many Choices....halp!

Since you mentioned a love of cushions and halos, I thought I'd throw this one out there. It's a branded cushion, smaller than what you're looking at, but it's A LOT of ring. The DAUSSI CUSHION CUT HALO RING about 4 down: http://jewelsbyericagrace.com/modern_and_estate_rings_page_2

Re: Compare 2 GIAs. What you pick is what I buy. Please Help

I'm not an expert, but short of being able to see both stones together in person I'd pick the GIA 2136284273 1.08ct. It will appear much larger (.1-.2mm!) and I prefer stones with smaller tables.

This one from BN has VSBF. It's a risk as it scores exactly a 2 on the HCA hopefully some of the others will chime in on the cut since BN doesn't provide idealscope images or ASET. http://www.bluenile.com/diamond-search?track=NavDiaSea#diamonds_pid=LD03051843 Stock number: LD03051843 Price: $916 Ban...

If you're looking for strong blue fluorescence, Brian Gavin has a special line of ideal cuts with SBF. It looks like there are a few at/near your price range, though I don't know what his basic settings cost. http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/diamond/brian-gavin-blue-diamonds-with-fluorescence/ ETA:...

I think JA has more stock than shows on the new website. I know that I have stones bookmarked that no longer show up in their searches. It might be worth a chat/call with them to see if they can dig out anything else for you.

Re: Shopping for RB and setting - Looking for advice

Personally I wouldn't. This is a 60/60 stone (60% table, 60% depth). A lot of commercial stones are cut to these proportions because it maximizes yield from the rough, but the vast majority do not perform as well as ideal cut stones. Can you get an idealscope image from your vendor? There's a chance...

Re: Please post pics of your Milgrain Tiffany wedding band!

The only one I've seen in person is my friend's husband's 4mm platinum, and it is so elegant that it hurts! Based on that I'd say the 3mm platinum for a woman,

Have fun at the Tiff's in Heathrow, but they do have kinda limited stock so you may not get to choose among all 4 in your size.

I'm not sure what your budget is, but this one has size at the expense of being a little warmer in color (EGL J, so likely even lower). http://www.1ofakindjewels.net/itemdetails.php?id=84779 And this isn't a true asscher, but is a lovely stone: http://www.langantiques.com/products/item/10-1-4843
