You may also want to check out the Lyria designs from Paradedesign. They do very whimsical, ethereal designs, and their signature crown looks like flower petals holding the center stone.

Re: Ring made in progress pics

It's not really easy to tell, but the head does not look hand fabricated. Is this a setting you are thinking about purchasing from someone? Why not ask them?

Re: Fancy light colors - yellow or brown?

For me personally, I'd pick yellow. There's something about the look of sunshine that comes from yellow diamonds that is just so enchanting to me.

Re: Do jewelers accept old setting towards cost of new setti

You may want to consider consignment, or listing it for sale yourself on a site like diamondbistro.com as a semi-mount. You'd need to give the measurements of what size center stone fits in there. Selling as a semi-mount instead of scrapping it would give you more money as when a piece is scrapped y...

Re: ISO: Cathedral Tapered Pave setting

$250 to customize a setting with pave diamonds is not bad, considering the labor involved. These are just a few settings I thought you might like (we are not vendors of any of these companies). Not as low set as what you have, and some may not taper in towards the center stone, but just to give you ...

Re: Heirloom EC Sapphire Ring by Caysie van Bebber (CVB and

That is just drop dead gorgeous!!! The color of the sapphire is just drool worthy, and the setting for it is just perfect. Love the triple split on the sides. Just spectacular!
Re: 20+ Carats! Drool Worthy!

I would be hard pressed to choose between the top or the bottom one! The bottom one because it seems to be set so nice and tight (prongs are not obtrusive at all), and the top because the size looks really comfortable. For my fingers, the best size for my hand is an eternity with .15-.20ct each ston...

Re: French cut eternity ring---sizing help please

I can wear anything from a size 5.75 in winter to a 7.25 in summer, so when we bought my T&Co. eternity we went with a size 7. My e-ring is also a size 7, and while it will slip around in winter, I wear a diamond insert guard with it when it's really cold. It's better to have it sliding than not...

Re: JCK/PS weekend?

I believe, IIRC, that Voldemort is a real LADY  If there is a GTG this year, I'd like to go, but I'm intimidated because it seems like many PSers have met in person before, and I'd be a perfect stranger (a shy stranger!) :errrr: I've only been two years in a row, so I'm still relatively new ...

Re: $20k for custom engagement ring?

This is just my opinion: The ring you posted from BE is such a popular design, that there is no need to go the expensive custom route. Most of the manufactures that jewelers keep in their stable make several versions of it, ranging from plain as you linked us to encrusted with diamonds. I would go t...

Re: Advice/Help looking for a similar ring set.

I would check both the Stuller and the Unique Settings sites. It's a fairly simple design, and bypasses (as well as twin rings) seem to be coming back into style, so they shouldn't be hard to find. On US, look in the engagement sets, semi-mount area. This way a peg head can be used for the emerald c...

Re: Ideas Needed on how to spend $6k!

Hmmm...does it have to be a ring? Just going by the title of the thread, if I had $6,000 to spend on jewelry, I'd be looking into a daily-wear, bezel set bracelet, or a really nice signature piece necklace. I had a gorgeous locket with over a carat of diamonds on it. I sooooooo miss that piece!

I'm in Northwestern Warren County, NJ, and we got about 27" from Jonas. They had forecasted 4-6" for our area, lol. My cars are still half buried in the snow, and because I spent the weekend sick, digging out anything unnecessary was just not in the cards. I'll finish digging out my car ev...

Re: 4 prong or 6 prong for Low Colored Stone in WG

Just my two cents, but I always recommend going with a 6-prong vs 4 for a round over a carat. The 6-prong offers more protection against loss than a 4, plus I personally like the way a 6-prong echoes the shape of the stone. Light enters the stone from the table, so that shouldn't be an issue. My rin...

Re: 60% of men think 1ct Ering is too big

I grew up in the typical NJ Italian circles, and the women thought anything under 1.5cts as a starter was too small (even the grandma's would say, "Whatsamatter, he can't afford to take care of you??? How's he going to take care of the children when they come along!"), while the men though...

I personally am a fan of the graduated sides look. I like the way it draws the eye upwards to the center, and makes a nice transition from sides to metal shank.

Re: Platinum Ring Sizing

I can wear anywhere from a 5.75 to a 7 depending on the weather (my fingers swell up in the hot, humid summers here in NJ), so I always go with the largest size (7), even though come winter my rings will be ready to fall off. You can definitely see a gap between my ring finger and pinky because of t...

Re: The jeweller dropped my stone!!

Many, MANY moons ago (about 17 years ago to be exact), on my very first day working for a jeweler in Charlotte, NC we had a client ask to see a few loose diamonds in the 2ct range. Re: Add channel set diamonds to band?

It really depends on how the ring is made, but typically a channel set ring that was made to be an engagement ring is going to have a gap where the head for the center stone sits, and to attempt to remove the head, channel set stones were there are not supposed to be any is going be reinventing the ...

Re: Need help- Harry Winston type setting with shallow diamo

Can your son talk to her BFF or maybe to her in a casual conversation to find out what she would want?
