Re: Need help- Harry Winston type setting with shallow diamo

Can your son talk to her BFF or maybe to her in a casual conversation to find out what she would want? Some women can't stand the look of the prongs being mounted on a band (looks like you can snap off the head without much effort), while others seriously dislike the look of an airline cathedral set...

Re: My Vatche Grace is here!!!!

Stunning! I'm a huge Grace fan, and with all the settings I see on a daily basis, it's what I chose for my own little engagement ring. I wear mine with a simple T&Co. channel set eternity band (2.4mm).

Wear it in good health and enjoy!

Re: Help finding a setting with a little vintage style?

I would start by browsing GordonClark.com, Coastdiamonds.com, antiqueengagementrings.com, and believe it or not, Ebay, as a source for vintage settings as well as modern settings with a vintage flavor. You can get an idea of what you like and what you don't like from those sites alone. Even if you g...

Re: Mom's With 2 or more under 5 - what ring do you wear?

Our four children are older now, ranging in ages of 8 through 16, but when they were babies, I wore a bezel set 5-stone band. It was wider, and low-set. I left my solitaire in the ring box unless we were going out somewhere, or the little ones were asleep. I've had my Vatche Grace halo for three yea...

Re: Help me find a replica Tiffany setting for my 2 ct WF AC

Melissa, How tall is the head on Vatche U-113? Generally low, medium, and tall heads are available. I like to see the culet which is why I'm asking. It is a medium height, and if we ask them to set the stone so that the culet is visible, they will do so. They make each ring to the client's specs.

Re: Help me find a replica Tiffany setting for my 2 ct WF AC

Forgive my ignorance but what is so special about the 95% platinum 5% ruthenium combo? I was planning on going all platinum, what is the point of including the ruthenium? Also, can't get over the $1,900 price tag on the Vatche. I don't have a problem paying for quality as long as I know what I am p...

Re: Help me find a replica Tiffany setting for my 2 ct WF AC

Go with the Vatche. It will probably take two weeks on average. It could take just as long sending it to another ring maker outside of WF. Many people here including myself have the Vatche U-113 and love it. Ask for 95%platinum/5%ruthenium (better alloy than the standard one). There is no cost to a...

Re: Is this cocktail ring dated?

If by dated you mean "out of style," not at all. The ballerina style has been around for hundreds of years, but that doesn't mean it's dated, out of style, etc. I'm a big fan of cocktail pieces, and especially the ballerina ring and the insert guard rings. To me, they are the icing on the ...

Re: Indented Natural

Even though I am a trade member, I do not consider myself to be an "expert" when it comes to diamonds as I still have much to learn. With that caveat out of the way, I would ask the vendor or seller. Every stone that I personally have seen with an indented natural and a cert had the indent...

Re: Trade members: Show us your fav red, white or blue piece

My personal all time favorite we did was the Deco Empire, but I posted that in another thread, so I'm going with my favorite blue stone ring. We did this ring for a client using a Chatham sapphire center. What I like about it is that at the 9 and 3 o'clock position there are pear cut diamonds instea...

Re: How noisy is your family/home?

My home is typically pretty quiet, for having four children. That is until the littlest ones start a fight (they're 8 and 10, 14 and 16). We're at a playdate this afternoon, and I can't wait to leave because the little boy is sooooooooo loud. I actually have a headache. :p

Re: Moissanite and Asha (manmade) diamond vs real diamonds

While regular moissanites are much more scratch resistant than a lot of other non-diamond alternatives, it is a brittle stone and can chip without proper care. Years ago, I had a shared bar prong eternity band that wound with a broken stone and two internally shattered ones, just from dropping it in...

Re: A $35K ring or a $35K car?

This is a really hard choice for me to make. If the option was put to me and the same option to my husband (each of us offered $35k to do what we want with), I know he would go for the car as we need to get him a new Jeep by the end of summer. As long as his daily commuter vehicle was taken care of,...

Re: GIA report shows two chips in Emerald Cut... Big Deal?

This is just my personal opinion , and not a professional one: chips and indented naturals are deal breakers for me. Just knowing there's an area that I can feel with my nail would drive me nuts, and if it's on the girdle I'd be constantly seeking it out with my nail. Where are the chips located?

We recently bought a beautiful champagne coloured round cut 5.03 carat diamond, VVS2 clarity and Q on the colour scale.
