Re: your experience with multicolour.com?

since you said you have bought 5 color change garnets from him, do you know what kind of color am I going to expect for "dark blue" for the first one ( http://www.multicolour.com/detail/?1925200798 )? is it something around cornflower blue with a little gray ? No. I would expect this to b...

Re: Grammar debate- is this true?

I cant help but feel that this discussion has lost its way and is chasing phantoms. The scientific study of linguistics, which gives no particular language practice priority or "more correctness" over another is of necessity interdisciplinary, using phonics, develpomental psychology, philo...

Re: your experience with multicolour.com?

I prefer the first one, though the window would drive me nuts. the second is light which might be better than too dark but again windowed. The third one has a nicer cut, possibly tolerable tilt window, but is too far gone to the dark side.

Re: your experience with multicolour.com?

I have many purchases from Multicolour, and kept them all with no regrets. It is difficult to gauge true color from their photos. It has helped me to click the "download identification report", I find the photos look less attenuated there as pdf files than they do on the website. If he des...

Re: Grammar debate- is this true?

Obviously, I am not on either side of this discussion, (I am choosing not to call it an argument, thought in academic circles I would), rather I find my feet sink in the mud regardless of which side of the fence I step on. I suspect this very question is at the root of the troubles of Babel. For I a...

I think if Fowler were here he would call a foul. So many problems get raised, and called into question by simple statements, like, it is, or is not grammatical, to say {... }, or to say what, within the context of what grammatic, is right or wrong. Language gets meaning from usage, usage hones (or ...

Re: I just wanna say -- the random comments thread

the lovely older gentleman directly upstairs from me was found dead this morning on his bed. I expect it was a heart attack as he was 81. However, he had just returned thursday from two months in Africa (Ivory coast) and had spent some time there in hospital for a UTI. The day he returned his toilet...

Re: Anyone getting calls from "Windows"?

I had a call today about my final opportunity to lower my interest rates as regards to the financial stimulus. The nice gentlman said he would try to get me down to as little as 1.3%so we talked for a while about debt and credit cards. He was calling from credit services, which a quick search on the...

Re: Would you live in this house?

The pics are a conceptual rendering; it has not been built. I could live in it, especially if it has some catacombs in the cliffside and scary internal stairways down to the base. the absence of a garage bothers me, but even so I would live there much more readily than I would pay $1M for a parking ...

Re: Possibly fake large green spinel

Much as I would love to gawk at a fake green spinel, I, and many others are understandably unlikely to click on an unknown outside link in a member's first and only post. it is very easy to upload your photos directly to this thread. You also might want to ask the moderators if a discussion about sy...

Re: Lapis Lazuli questions

This is my only piece of LL. Have had it for years, but still can't commit to anything. It is a little over a third of a pound at 167.23 grams, or 836.25 carats.

Re: 3.22 pink tourmaline from RDG sellout -how to set?

I too wonder why rose gold is a must.Since it would be so close in tone and hue to the stone I would expect it only to make the whole thing muddy, especially as it is already so close in hue to your skin. Some contrasts with the metal and the halo or side stones will go a long way to show off that s...

Re: Thoughts/buying advice on this tourmaline pretty please?

I love the color, and wouldn't mind the clarity, but the bow window would bother me. Of course price could be the wild card. Sometimes a good price can make one look, not through, but around the windows to admire the drapes!

Re: 3.22 pink tourmaline from RDG sellout -how to set?

I think it is lovely. Judging by the cut I would not be surprised if it is by John Dyer. As its tone is close to your skin tone, I would consider a halo, diamonds, mint garnet, sapphire and/or black spinel to make it stand out with more contrast.
