Re: 3.22 pink tourmaline from RDG sellout -how to set?

I too wonder why rose gold is a must.Since it would be so close in tone and hue to the stone I would expect it only to make the whole thing muddy, especially as it is already so close in hue to your skin. Some contrasts with the metal and the halo or side stones will go a long way to show off that s...

Re: Thoughts/buying advice on this tourmaline pretty please?

I love the color, and wouldn't mind the clarity, but the bow window would bother me. Of course price could be the wild card. Sometimes a good price can make one look, not through, but around the windows to admire the drapes!

Re: 3.22 pink tourmaline from RDG sellout -how to set?

I think it is lovely. Judging by the cut I would not be surprised if it is by John Dyer. As its tone is close to your skin tone, I would consider a halo, diamonds, mint garnet, sapphire and/or black spinel to make it stand out with more contrast.

I was going to remove RDG from the list and was SHOCKED to see they had never been put ON the list. Chrono, while the box looks like a pint of ice cream (1/2 pint really) it is different. paper based board, strong, with a little heft. Re: Need help finding a montana sapphire for a bentwood ring

it is a pretty stone, for its type size and price point, all of which I think fit you wants. As they do now provide video, and the one they gave does not ...

Re: Need Help Evaluating Sapphire Price

Color is king.
color can change drastically in a recut. It is not always predictable or for the better.
A better, closer photo would help a little but it doesnt look like such a great color to start with.
Even if all the alleged qualites were confirmed by a lab, $3200 is high, imo.

Re: Catch all thread - talk or better yet show us

There seem to be a lot of 1.5 ct - 3. ct vvs Mahenge spinels on the market suddenly. I may be wrong, but I was unaware of any recent big finds. I do not mean to imply any explanation. Has any one else noticed this and thought it odd?

Re: Metal dilemma

Hmm, recycled may present a problem. That is if you are only interested in using scrap that you already have as the source for the gold. Some refiners may recycle and then make 24k grain from it. Or, if it still fits with your definition of recycled, start with an old 24kt coin

Re: Metal dilemma

I was going to suggest 20k white palladium gold without rhodium plating. Bear in mind it will not be brite-white, bit slightly yellowish. Likely it would have to be a custom alloy, but CM probably makes his own already anyway. I would recommend discussing the possible options with the goldsmith. If ...
