Re: Fire Agate from Gemtrader, 18.73 ct

Oh its lovely Matata! I didn't realize it would be so big. I could see it as the lid of a pill box.

Re: Help needed for super reactive and sensitive skin...

My drematologist is also at Sadick at the west 15th street location, Dr. Romano. He's good. My nephew has very sensitive skin too, but for a totally different reason. He has ecto dermal dysplasia. The result of that is he has no sweat glands, no teeth either. But he is in his first year of college, ...

Re: 18-24" of Snow for NYC!

We knew there would be staggering differences in accumulations within small distances. Here in Soho we got about 4 inches, while in Jamaica Queens they got 10. They are both in NYC, about ten mile apart to a crow. Last I heard Nantucket had no power. Sicuate Mass looks to have been hit hard with thr...

Re: Catch all thread - talk or better yet show us

Just now as I was cleaning up misfiled items in the vendor list, I discovered that the list is full, meaning that I got a message that said there are too many urls in the post, and that the maximum is 100. As it is there are 101, but I spaced the WW Ws out in one so it wouldn't look like an url to t...

Re: 18-24" of Snow for NYC!

In Manhattan, it now looks as thought we may have only an angry inch or two. Still, along the coast east of here all the way through Nova Scotia (from where my people hail) there is going to be a significant and dangerous storm. Be safe everyone.

Re: 18-24" of Snow for NYC!

I went to the whole foods on houston and bowery at 1 pm today. it was a zoo. the lines came out of the register areas (which thenselves are like 2000 sq ft) and went down nearly all the aisles. I asked an employee who was managing the lines if the were still doing delivery albeit with no guaranteed ...

Re: Which Lab Report From Multicolour?

I hope no one thinks I was pressuring the OP to buy that without thoroughly vetting it. I was surprised to see the link posted and the stone still available, with the declaration that the OP is intent on buying it. As a general rule one should not provide that level of information on a stone one is ...

Ah, this brings back memories of gently warmed good times, eating traditionally heated holiday cookies and roasting spinels on an open fire.

Re: The Gem Trader drop - what'd you get?

It is not uncommon for Brad's stones to actually present better in person than in his very good photos. I agree with the others that this fine a burma red is hard to come by even in this size, and dramatically more expensive above 1 carat, if you can find one. After the drop Brad wrote me saying he ...

Re: Which Lab Report From Multicolour?

Please buy that or put it on reserve before a lurker steals it out from under you.

Also I think it is very pretty

Also it seems already to have a gia report so you should contact David to discuss that. If you really want it buy it now and sort out the rest tomorrow

Re: Which Lab Report From Multicolour?

For me it would really be a question of getting the right report for the stone. Not knowing anything about the stone you are getting I cant say. I can tell you roughly what my criteria would be. If the stone is under $1000 I would go without the report. %1000 - $1500 I would suffice with the aigs ch...

I watched the first Black Mirror episode. I can't do any more.

Yes the first episode was pretty in tense. Well, gross really, but it was absolutely key to the story.
Later eposides are still intense but not so gross. And the writing, direction and acting are all quite extraordinary.

Re: PSA: Red Spinel Heating Treatment Continues

Thanks for the info Chrono. Does this treatment leave any trace, or alterations in the structure that would enable labs to determine if a stone has, or has not been heated?

Re: 5.20 Carat Unheated Burmese Ruby Value Opinion Need?

I recognized the style of this listing and saw the stone on the vendor's site. There is another lab report with a photo pf the stone that is likely to be much bore representative of how the stone will look. Also a video that is bombarded with light like Lawrence Livermore trying to make fusion. _553...

I would not love that stone, and I would not buy that stone.

eta:
"Clarity: Milky-Transparent (SI2), Near Eye-Clean;"
What on earth does this mean, and how on earth could one take seriously a vendor who would offer a stone as such?

Re: Do you think combovers look bad?

Telephone, in this case I think what is important is what is underneath the combover, not only that this is more of a upswept brushing than a comb over (the hair on the sides is clipped very short so nothing was really combed over), However that first one of Kenny's is clearly Mario Battali.

Sharon,

Multicolour just added five round tsavorites this morning. I think that a matched pair could be made from them.

Re: I just wanna say -- the random comments thread

I cry a few times every day. sometimes more. It is a hard cry, I can almost feel my face turning inside out sometimes, and tears flow as streams, not one at a time. I havent cried like this since my mother died when I was 7 in 1968. I fear I am turning into a bumbling, emotionally labile old man and...

Asscher, I have been sending you dust for the last few days, just hadn't gotten around to posting. It all sounds like a horrible ordeal. Any one of those tests is more than enough for one day. I hope you get an accurate diagnosis and of something completely treatable quickly.
