Re: cat's eye sapphire exist?

Edward Bristol|1414411795|3773251 wrote:Theoretically you can find star sapphires with anything between 1 and 12 legs.

A cat's eyes sapphire would be a 'normal' six-ray star with 4 missing legs.

Or just as true, a normal six ray star sapphire would be a cat's eye sapphire with three eyes crossed.

Re: NY peeps or those that have travelled there

That fairfield inn in brooklyn is not really a convenient location for holiday season interests. What are the dates of your visit? is the $150-190 cost per person? Do kids stay free or are they same cost? The MArriot Courtyard in Soho rates seem to be per room, not per person, but come in around the...

Re: Citizen Eco-Drive - Cool or Pleb?

Because of this thread I dug out my ecodrive watch. With the "skillz" I have developed since joining pricescope I fashioned a pin to repair the band, and Im already wearing it again!

Re: Citizen Eco-Drive - Cool or Pleb?

I have one with titanium band. I think it is pretty great. The band broke so I dont use it. If I get that fixed I will go back to it. I liked it a lot. A friend of mine has one too and loves it.

Re: Setting ideas for asscher chryso

Well, you could set it in my front tooth!!

Otherwise I would go for a classic three stone with two smaller asscher sidestones in a platinum or white gold mount, very simple with no melee

Why

is the time stamp on Pricescope always four hours ahead of me (NYC)? I can't seem to find any place on the globe with that time zone except Iceland. Is the diamond forum called "Ice Land" by those in the know (who clearly are not me)?

*sigh*
I live in lower Manhattan
I don't feed the wild life.

However I did once see a wild turkey in Hudson River Park between the Mary Miss sculpture and the Holocaust museum.
And no, I do not mean an empty bottle of wild turkey, 'twas a real live bird!

Re: Thoughts on these rough sapphires? Cutters care to weigh

It is really impossible to evaluate a rough stone online, even harder from a single picture. Most people when buying rough this way, buy for quality stones from reputable dealers they have bought from before so they know the seller's photography style and descriptors. It is entirely impossible to im...

Re: Catch all thread - talk or better yet show us

I have a question that I should be able to answer myself. Or perhaps I don't like the answer and I'm looking for someone to enable me in my denial. what is the moh's hardness of steel? I know it will vary for differently composed steels and whether they have been oil hardened. All the hardness data ...

Re: Neon Mahenge Spinel...

The picture looks suspiciously fantastic! I expect a huge amount of amped vibrance and saturation. Is the vendor known to be reliable? also dimensions are lacking, do you have them? do they imply a window? What is the depth%? Re: Ebola arrives in America tomorrow on a fancy private jet

I am glad they advise us not to touch the body of a person who has died from ebola. I already feel as if I dodged a bullet. I suspect that, when CDC says "not spread through air or water" they are telling the truth, in that ebola itself (free virus, not inside a host cell) will not survive...

I am sorry . I seem to have misunderstood your intentions. Gene Flanigan of PrecisionGems has some sapphire stock that might make a very strong match to the stone you have. regardless what the stone turns out to be, I would hate to see such a lovely antique piece be taken apart.
I think you could avail yourself of the resources here on PS to find a stone that won't break your budget.

Re: poll: were you mad about U2?

In 1980, at the age of 19 I was MAD about U2!!! I had the distinctive pleasure to see them at Irving Plaza club 47 a week before Boy was released in the US. I already knew it having bought the UK import weeks before. One of the greatest shows I have ever seen. Others I have seen were Gang of Four at...

Re: Mattress Too Firm: Featherbed vs. Memory/Gel Foam Topper

I have a high end feather and I hate it. I have bloody scratches all over all the time and I hate the thing. Plus it rends itself of feathers at a disturbing rate. Not that I worry about it losing its fluff, but I resent having to clean up after it. neighbors have foam topper and love it

Re: Grammar debate- is this true?

An interesting question, Deb. I wonder how much the casualness of spoken language, verses the formality of written language, plays in this. I think the example of a court stenographer is a good place to question from. If the court stenographer hears "I axed him" and records it as "I a...

Re: Grammar debate- is this true?

Just another opinion. I am a court reporter. When people mispronounce words when they are in the witness box, I have to write what they say verbatim. It drives my crazy. I had a witness on the stand that said, "I axed him. " This is an educated person. I had to leave it in the way they sa...

Re: your experience with multicolour.com?

I prefer the first one, though the window would drive me nuts. the second is light which might be better than too dark but again windowed. The third one has a nicer cut, possibly tolerable tilt window, but is too far gone to the dark side.
