Re: Suggestions for a Gift Wanted

Also wanted to thank MollyMalone for the tip off and details of such policies. I understand it in government or in positions where contracts are decided, but it seems overkill for medical practice administrative staff. Last year We made a Lemon meringue tart for the staff at Oncology, but they all g...

Re: Therapy for anxiety / panic disorder?

my own experience, so individually specific. Keep away from antidepressants...unless you need them. The thing is they are a bitch to get off of later, and you may feel that you have only deferred dealing with your misery sources, unless you really have a neurotransmitter imbalance, which you may not...

Thanks dk, a very interesting and appropriate suggestion. As I am more familiar with pearl paradise I checked their website and found this http://www.pearlparadise.com/p-4790-brilliant-collection-tahitian-baroque-pearl-and-diamond-pendant.aspx which I quite like too. Suggestions for a Gift Wanted

Dear Colored Stoners, As many of you know, my SO has been going through a lot of health issues. The one that we have been battling most for the last 10 months is this awful Osteonecrosis of the jaw. Let's skip the disease and get to the subject. As many of you will know from experience, there is oft...

Re: Can we talk cameras?

I confess I like the retro look, but I was a photo major in the '80s and for hand work we all wanted a leica. For my real work I use Linhof 4 x 5 and 8 x 10 cameras, or ones I build specially for the lens. The fuji has a special macro mode that lets you get 6 inches from the subject. The other has m...

Re: Do you own an electric kettle? Do you use it?

I have two! Both are Breville, and I use them all the time. Not just for tea either. Any time I need hot water I use it. Once a month, when I put bleach down the drains to prevent clogs, I heat the drain first, and then put in the bleach, then flush that with another kettle of boiling water. If I am...

Re: My holy grail chrysoberyl search, finally done!

Of the three I like the one from Tan the best. The first one looks less than eye clean, windowed, half and half extinction and generally unremarkable. The third one looks über tilt-windowy and limpid, not so saturated. The middle one looks still a little windowy, but brighter, flashier and like it t...

Re: Tried new vendor, what do you think?

Without the stone in hand there is no way to know which "side to take" or at least favor. My reflexes told me to side with the consumer, but when tempered with reason I realized I did not have enough information to judge EITHER side.

Things are seldom what they seem.

Re: Tried new vendor, what do you think?

Color is one of the hardest things to describe correctly and to photograph accurately - and depending on geographic locations, your natural light may differ quite a bit from another person's natural light. In this case, the OP is saying the color of the stone as shown in the listing (appearing blui...

Did you pick this stone out of the tread of your shoes? I have seen your other threads. Do you have a point? Sorry to be so blunt, but you seem to be a sphinx without a riddle. If so that's fine, but please be up front about it. Most people here are interested in gemstones, not in guessing what mine...

The one in LK's link is secondary market and the price was set 7 months ago when it was listed.
Also they are different stones, as are the sellers, different that is, not stones, the sellers I mean, well both.

Re: I bought this pink sapphire instead of a green tourmalin

Lots of bad stones have come from Sri Lanka too. I would not care about place of origin; no matter where it is from, a stone must stand or fall on its own merits. This stone looks very meritorious! We all have inclusions. Many are loved not despite, but for their inclusions. I think the inclusions i...
