Re: Is it common now to have a baby shower with every child?

My lash artist is pregnant with her second. At my last appointment she was telling me all about the 'baby shower' she was throwing...for herself. I did think to myself, that's not really the done thing, twice over. However, she is Swedish and told me baby showers aren't the norm where she comes from...

Re: Might be doing Restylane Friday...

Cj2008, Boy have I missed a lot here! It sounds like you were fine with the pain. It sounds like everything went really well for you. I'm so glad you are happy with the results. I have never heard anything about not drinking coffee the day of your procedure. Here is a question for you girls. Have y...

Re: Do you have a happy marriage?

We've been married 13 years, and yes, both of us are very happy and content with our marriage. We just enjoy being together, whether we are travelling the world or sitting on either ends of the couch messaging each other on our laptops. I think romantic love is incredibly important, but so is respec...

Re: Might be doing Restylane Friday...

I've never had filler actually in the 'meat' of my lips, but I have had the outline of my upper lip defined.. I think they call that the 'vermillion border'? The doctor put a little along the sides, and in the cupids bow, and to enhance the philtrum. It improves the look and shape of the whole lip a...

Re: Weird Snacks You Like

Two pieces of toasted white bread, butter, sliced tasty cheese and sliced canned beetroot. Delicious..

Not weird, but not readily available... English jelly babies. Bassetts brand, the fat ones dusted with sugar. Heaven. I don't stop eating them until I feel sick.

Re: Ladies, would you do your make up with your man present?

Yes. I would rather put it on in front of him than other women. Really? Why? Relatively ignorant about women-men dynamics, this topic interests me. For me it would depend on who the women are. Women are...well, they're bitches. They're critical. You'll use too much, or not enough, or the wrong prod...

Re: Anyone sell your things on ebay? Hobby during cancer....

What an awesome idea. Clear out unwanted baggage for a new, fresh start, and maybe make a little pocket money.

I wish I'd thought of that!

Re: Wine for guests ... price?

I voted $50+. I've been collecting wine since my 20's, I have about 600 bottles in a professional wine storage facility. I rarely buy wine to put away that costs less than $40. So I'm not buying wine specifically for guests but serving something out of existing stock. Most of our friends are also di...

Re: Eye brow products for a novice

I've had a big scar down the middle of my left eyebrow for most of my life so I am pretty expert at filling in my brows. I've done a decent job with a pencil, but the problem with the pencil is it doesn't stick really well to the shiny areas of my scar, and rubs off easily in warm/sweaty weather. I'...

Re: Experience with knee injury - torn meniscus and/or ACL?

I severed my ACL skiing 4 years ago, I had surgery - an artificial LARS graft. The artificial graft has the advantage of a much shorter recovery time, but it was still a solid 6 months of my life in pre-hab, post surgery and re-hab. And it's still never been the same, it's fine to walk, and ski on, ...

Re: Another drinking thread....advice requested

I've never been a super big drinker, I don't drink every day by any means. But boy I do love me some drink! When my husband and I were in the US recently on holiday a friend mentioned that he was taking a month off drinking, I casually said 'that sounds like a good idea, I should do that too'. My hu...

Re: Do you own an electric kettle? Do you use it?

Of course I do! (But I'm in Australia - I don't think there would be a household in Australia that doesn't have one). I suppose it depends what you use the water for, for tea making it's by far the best. The auto shutoff means the water isn't boiling and boiling before you get to it to turn it off....

Re: Skin Troubles at 40

Stress, poor nutrition, dehydration, lack of sleep etc can certainly leave your skin looking less than it's best. However, I doubt this is responsible for brown pigmentation patches, therefore removing those factors won't take the splotches away but will possibly give you an improvement in the overa...

Re: Handbag Museum, Largest Handbag Museum in the World!

I went there when we were in Amsterdam last year. We stayed in a gorgeous canal house on the next corner (The Vanguard).

The collection is very interesting, and the house is lovely in itself. It's a fun way to spend a couple of hours.

Re: Do men hit on you?

Sometimes yes. Some men do turn their heads to check me out on the street and at least twice in the last few months, when we have been out at a bar, my husband has come back from getting drinks to find someone trying to chat me up. I think I'm a little more than averagely attractive for my age, I lo...

Re: Europe trip -- where to go?

You can't go to Belgium and miss Bruges. It is becoming very, very crowded however. If your husband loves beer make sure you visit T'Arendsnest in Amsterdam, Delerium in Brussels and T'Brugs Beertje in Bruges. Prague is delightful, but is not really close to Brussels, it's on the other side of Germa...

Re: Is this Tiffany Gold Infinity Ring Real?

I'm voting fake actually. To me, the print on the bag is slightly wonky, authentic Tiffany packaging is as perfect as their jewellery. Also, the packaging seems slightly too green, rather than true Tiffany blue. IMO, the counterfeiters get it nearly right, they just don't get quite the right hue. I'...

Re: Double charged by hotel through Expedia booking - help!

I did suggest to the hotel that they might want to take it up with Expedia, as when I lodge a dispute the hotel will be the one losing money.

Thanks everyone!

Re: What did you eat for breakfast this morning?

Smoothie here too, my usual - half a banana, a handful of berries, almond milk and non-fat greek yoghurt.

Preceeded by a glass of hot water with lemon and followed by a cup of green tea.

I have a Kitchenaid blender, it smoothies well.

Double charged by hotel through Expedia booking - help!

Re: What do you wear to work?

Dress pants, a nice dressy tank and a cardigan. And black knee-his with black flat close-toed shoes. I work in a hospital and have to cover all my tattoos. I don't mind, though, since it's always FREEZING in my office. In the summer, I shed the cardigan and switch to flip-flops when I leave, so I'm...

Someone posting 'where I live, blah blah blah' is not necessarily expecting you know or remember exactly where they live. Re: What do you wear to work?

Tailored pants or skirts, with a blouse, a jacket if I have an external meeting. I have a wardrobe full of jersey wrap dresses, they are a staple for me. My hair is super fine too, but, sadly, also extremely thin. That's a nifty tool. I have something that works the same way but without the snap fastener, so it always ends up coming undone. I do love them, as mentioned, only the big public displays here in Australia, 'private' fireworks are banned, I don't think you can buy them/set them off without a special license.
