Thanks everyone, definately going to check out tradeshop. Would still love more thoughts from the forum. Mara, did your small stones have certifications with them? Cost of Custom Rings
By now I''ve learned more than I''ll ever need to about diamonds, but I realized today I know very little about the rings themselves. If I get custom rings designed, how do I know I''m not getting ripped off? I''ll descibe the rings: The engagement band will have four, individually set side diamonds... |

H&A is a pattern that occurs naturally in most well cut diamonds. There are varying degrees of perfection when it comes to the hearts and the arrows. AGS000 diamonds sometimes produce this, and sometimes do not. Getting a H&A diamond is not a guarentee that you are getting a great diamond. Regarding... |

I'm not positive if Tiffany stamps the serial number or not, but I've heard they do. Is your goal to get a tiffany diamond/setting, or are you just looking for a good diamond/setting? It's hard to give advice unless we know the answer to this question. |

assuming the cut is ideal, the ring really is a tiffany ring, and the stones appraise as what you were told they are, it sounds like a great deal to me. I think tiffany stamps a serial number in their rings. Does this ring have one? |

You *can* pay a tiny bit more for a certified stone, but oftentimes you get what you pay for. If any uncertfied stone is selling for less than a certfied stone of the same specs, I would question if it truley had the same specs as the certified stones. As I've said before, the HCA is but one tool to use in evaluating a diamond. There are many factors not accounted for. I believe it's a good tool, but certainly not the only one. Of course, your eyes are the best tool of all

it's tough to do this because carat is weight, not size. Depending on the dimensions of a diamond a .7 could look larger than a .8. Also, computer monitor size/resolution will distort the results. The best way to determine size is to visit diamonds in person. All that being said, I'll see if I can f... |
