Re: Your 15 minutes of fame...

Yep, I introduced the first lady Hilary Clinton when I was in 5th grade. She was doing some local tours and came and talked at our elementary school and since I was president of the student council at the time I got to introduce her. I was on the news and in papers and such.

Re: If you can microchip your kid, would you?

SO and I have had some hypothetical conversations about things like this. He's very anti-anything that resembles Big Brother, and I can totally see where he is coming from. But when it comes down to it, if I lost my child I'd hope there was every Big Brother tracking measure in place to find my kid....

Re: Pretty Woman moment at local jewelery store

Does anybody know if Tiffany employees get paid commission? I get treated like crap every nearly time I walk in there. Ditto. The one in Chicago is two floors ($$$$ stuff on the first floor) and the 2nd floor people were super super nice to me, but the 1st floor people didn't even acknowledge my pr...

Re: Sister Wives on TLC

I think the concept of raising children in a community has tremendous benefits that most modern citizens do not gain as part of nuclear family. However, I think that they are just as attainable when each woman has her OWN husband. But to each his own... ETA: I haven't seen the show as I don't have c...

Re: Why can't I multitask when I brush my teeth?

Get an electric toothbrush. Not only are they supposedly better for you but its way easier to do other things while brushing your teeth since it requires less movement on your part.

Re: graduated side stones - big to small - pics/opinions?

This is similar, I don't know that the side stones graduate in size all that much, but the shank certainly does. This is one of my favorite settings.

Re: Quick vote on setting

I like number 2 better but I haven't seen many pictures of that website's rings in real life. I'd be worried about craftmanship, whereas pearlmans is a very trusted jeweler.

However, I LOOOOOVE the Erica Grace setting.

Re: Emergency escape plan for pets

My cat is a hider too so if I were home I'd probably be able to find her and just grab her and hopefully throw her in a neighbors house before she squirmed out of my arms. Honestly if I wasn't home and the house burned down, she probably wouldn't make it. I highly doubt a fireman would be able to fi...

Re: Are the leaves changing colors where you live?

No... and it makes me pouty. I'm from the midwest and living in Texas right now which barely has Fall at all much less the beautiful experience that is fall in the midwest.

Re: Never Forget Sept. 11th

Thanks for the reminder Karl, I genuinely appreciate it.

Let us also also continue to remember those who are still struggling due to not only losses of loved ones on that day, but also the individuals who continue to struggle daily from health affects they have incurred for their bravery.

Re: Men, don't loose weight. Just shop at Old Navy

Yeah I find it more annoying than appealing to my vanity. It bugs me to always have to guess what size I'll be at a store. I once bought a skirt at Target and had to walk in and out of the dressing room 3 times with the same skirt because the sizing was so whacked. I picked up a size 3.. came back a...

Re: asking permission

I feel REALLY weird about my partner asking my father for "permission" to marry me. He feels he has to at least ask for my father's blessing; I said he must ask both my parents, not just my father. It's hard to explain, but I suppose, essentially, I dislike the implications: a) that I am ...

Re: asking permission

Are you close in location to them? What about having dinner with them and talking about it together. i.e. asking them as a couple for their blessing on getting engaged. Still gets the "permission" without a dad-SO convo.

Re: BGD experience. NOT happy, and no ring for mom's 70th b

Hmmm, tough call and an unfortunate situation all around. Re: hexagonal halos for princess cut?

I've always thought this setting was pretty. Not a clue if they could modify it for a princess but you could ask.

Congratulations! Love the story and the ring. We used to say the same thing about the constellation Orion...we could just about always see it from wherever we were in space and time. Re: asking permission

My SO called and asked for my father's blessing on asking me to marry him. I thought it was a really good combination of tradition and modern relationships. I don't need my father's "permission" to do anything, which also sounds a bit archaic to me. But I know my dad felt really honored to...
