Woo-hoo!!! Lovely!
I was hoping for H VS2 but even a master cutter like Yoram can't change Mother Nature..Niel|1412983722|3765636 said:I don't know if you're happy with the stats or not but I'd think I would be, if they were at all connected to price....
Perfection, as always.

This was the only rough available at the time to cut a 2+ ct Octavia. From what I understand Yoram looks for certain shape of rough to cut Octavias b/c most likely the rough will only yield one stone. No big deal I'm sure the I color stone will sparkle as much as a D color stone.cflutist|1413070026|3765920 said:Dancing Fire|1413066771|3765911 said:I was hoping for H VS2 but even a master cutter like Yoram can't change Mother Nature..Niel|1412983722|3765636 said:I don't know if you're happy with the stats or not but I'd think I would be, if they were at all connected to price....

Sorry, but look at it this way, there was a 20% chance of a J, so you did good there with an I.
Remarks from Yoram...
My estimated opinion:
Polished weight estimation: 2.34 to 2.23ct+/- Result = 2.30
Color: 10% G - 20% H - 50% I - 20% J. Result = I
Perhaps you could have started with higher color rough to guarantee your H?
For example:
Color: 10% E - 20% F - 50% G- 20% H.

I don't have the stone yet, however I found out that my local jeweler can't do a custom tension setting. A 14k WG Gelin Abaci setting will cost $3600 and a Palladium 500 is $2400 ..kenny|1413408004|3767568 said:

Did he say why? Just curious.
I don't know why..said he must put a bridge below the culet so it is not really a true tension setting. He recommended a SK tension setting, but a SK setting will cost an arm and two legs.cflutist|1413414983|3767644 said:Dancing Fire|1413414717|3767639 said:I don't have the stone yet, however I found out that my local jeweler can't do a custom tension setting. gregchang35|1413415232|3767648 said:I think there are only a few ppl that can do a REAL tension setting. Kenny says there are 4 from recollection but i cant recall. there are only 2 that i can name:
1) Gelin Abaci
2) Boone
3)
4)
Boone doesn't deal with precious metals like gold alloys due to the strength of metal to keep the tension on the stone...????? Kenny has his Octavia by Boone and it is set in Chrome/Cobalt mix which he says "stays relatively white"
But i think he will jump in at some point to help you out....
But i guess in the scheme of things the cost of the setting is minor compared to the cost of the Octavia. YOU deserve it!

TR-005 in 14 WG is $2520 and in Palladium 500 is $1750, think I can still haggle on the price...

Congratulations DF!! That is a spectacular stone.

I'll give them a call tomorrow. I think my local jeweler's price is pretty reasonable.
Kenny..What do you think about a narrower setting (which I like) but then the corners will be exposed to danger of be being chipped.
