I agree with Gypsy...get the best largest stone you can afford in a temp. setting and save for your dream setting. This AVC faces up the largest and would probably be eye clean and in your $3 k budget; http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/9089/ How about that ASET? Nice stone and almost 6x6mm |

Here are an H and a K (different stones from yours) in natural light in a video:

Whichever one you decide on, you can put it on hold for $500 online after hours. You can even change your mind after that about which one you want. There are limited AVCs left in that price range and a ton of lurkers on PS, as you well know.

I was voting for the .92 k before i saw the video and it is still my pick. That size will not be too big for a small finger and in the video with magnification I could see no inclusion. Also I saw an Amavida setting at a local jeweler and it was stunning and very delicate looking which is what I wanted in a setting. This is the first posting where i have seen that brand of setting online. I went to their site but the setting i saw was not in their catalog. That setting you have chosen is awesome. I think you have a winner on both counts the .92 K AVC and that Amavida setting. Can't wait to see your final pick. |

Ohh, I was going to link to that setting, but thought you didn't want a halo! I think that one is lovely, too.

I've always loved halos I was just rethinking because I've been SO indecisive about settings that I'm considering getting something more simple and then upgrading the setting down the road.
Does anyone have a favorite simple vintage style setting they want to share?? If I don't get a halo, I love double claw and fishtails prongs!! |

I think this is the Amavida setting I saw at the store and loved it....the shaft was thin and elegant but substantial...it doesn't have a halo and is a very elegant victorian solitaire with those diamonds underneath the center stone were very showy from all angles. I remember it as only having four prongs but this shows 6. It was $1800 in the store and held a 9mm stone. I would call some local jewelers to see who carries Amavida and look at their settings in person. http://www.gabrielny.com/amavida/style/ER7940W83JJ Last edited by ariel144 on July 31st, 2012, 7:32 pm, edited 1 time in total.

When I was in the market for an AVC, I put a hold on on the .76 I VS1. I stalked the website and as soon as my .77 H VS2 popped up, I put a hold on that too. I decided on the .77 because it was .01 ct bigger. My deposit on the .76 was refunded. As soon as you find a good prospect, hold it first and ask questions later. The inventory between .5 and .99 ct seems to go quickly. |

Have you tried on any halos in person? This type of halo is very understated and elegant, not "blingy" - if that's what you're worried about. If you love halos, get a halo. I'm glad girlygirl just posted, because it reminds me to show you her gorgeous AVC! http://www.pricescope.com/forum/rockytalky/i-have-the-smallest-diamond-out-of-all-my-friends-t177640.html http://www.pricescope.com/forum/show-me-the-ring/avc-vatche-caroline-and-whiteflash-danielle-bezel-t178114.html |

I have tried on the Gabriel 7527 halo. It was the one we were going to buy but then I started 2nd guessing myself! There is only one local jeweler that carries Gabriel and it ended up not working out with him, so if I pick a different Gabriel setting I won't be able to try it on first. I have no complaints about their settings. Really beautiful. I'm going to send some pics to my cousin...she's like my twin!! I know she'll help me! They had their rings custom designed but she inherited her stone so they were able to put all the money towards the setting! I'm also going to ask my future mom-in-law. She's seen the Gabriel setting and loved it. |

Here is a discussion on why this girl picked a K AVC when she at first wanted nothing lower than an H...interesting:

Budget is <$7000. Mark from ERD is searching for a Cushion Brilliant for me, but in my price range, he is recommending a 1.12G/VS1 or 1.33I/VS2 stone. Looking at GOG, I noticed http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/7804/.... 1.54K/VS2. What do you think of the stone? In your ring, can you see a difference in color between the center stone and the melee? Your expertise would be appreciated, since I love your ring and you got a stone will similar ratings as this. here is my current thread: http://www.pricescope.com/forum/post2853450.html#p2853450 Re: WE'RE ENGAGED! First of all, Thank you for the nice thoughts on my ring! ![]() Ok,, as far as the K color? My #1 thing to tell you to do,, as is what happened with me,, as I thought I wouldnt go past an H,, is to talk to Johnathan, of Good Old Gold,, if it IS an AVC your looking for. He actually took the time, and made me a personal color comparasion video with MY diamond I was interested,, and it was IN THE BAG after that!! SOLD!!! haha Most of the time, I never see any color, or warmth in my bEAUTIFUL K AVC. Anytime I'm out, resturants, shopping, the lighting works magic on it!! it looks not only icy white, but the large cut facets of the AVC are like no other! You get BIG, BOLD, rainbow flashes,,, I cannot go out, without someone STOPPING me, to see and ask of my ring! They always say they've NEVER seen a diamond like it! Now,, when do i see warmth?/ Sometimes in the house, with some ambient, natural light coming in,, or in the car while I'm driving, with sunlight coming through.. If the light is coming through the ring,, instead of reflecting off of it,, i will get a warmth,, not a yellow,, just like a slight difference then the melee,,, VERY slight,, but i actually like it! My melee is an I,, so there REALLY isnt too much of a difference,, if any, because you do not see any color diferences.. We too spent $7K,,, $5k for the AVC, $2k for the setting,,, (which dont quote Me on to Mark,, I think he gave me a mega deal!) LOL But again,,, speak to Jonathan,, he is the GREATEST! He will SHOW you anything and everything you need to know! Hope this helps! Good Luck! |

Hi Mandasand,
I've been following your thread and want to add my vote I love this K: http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/9492/ I had been looking at it myself for a couple of months. I'm sure you have read every AVC thread and watched all the video's on GOG's site, I know I did when I was strongly considering an AVC. I still hope to have either one of a true antique cut stone or one of these gorgeous little sparkelies one day. I found this site a year ago while lusting after Emerald cuts and Asschers and ended just purchasing a 1.11ct square emerald cut last week. I just had to go with my first love, ya know? Mine is from JA and is a K color. I can tell ya the cut is amazing and that baby is so bright, I don't see any color at all. And the price was amazing too. So for someone on a budget a well cut K can be a steal. I think if you order it you'll be surprised. That said, I have never seen an AVC IRL but everyone on here raves and gosh they look gorgeous Great settings you've chosen, too. I am currently in setting limbo so will probably set it in a simple solitare even though I'm an art deco girl at heart. That will give me time to make a thoughtful decision and still enjoy the diamond. Of the setting you have chosen I like this one the most: http://antiqueengagementrings.com/shopping/shopexd.asp?id=1183 I can't wait to see what you pick! |

I don't know. I noticed that too yesterday. He's a super sneaky sneaker. It's pointless to even guess (no point trying to crack someone in law enforcement).
We did look at the final setting choices last night and I think we both have a favorite. He agrees with me that we should not get anything that sits too high. He said the Gabriel settings and the halos sit too high. He worries that I will knock my stone out because I'm so clumsy. Also, I will be wearing the ring on my right hand and I'm right handed, so the ring will be exposed to more potential danger. We also agree that I should get something more delicate and simple looking because I have these really tiny fingers and we want to show off the center stone. When I tried on the Gabriel halo, it pretty much took up the whole top part of my finger - now that's finger coverage! I still had space for a thin band, though. I asked those closest to me...BF, my cousin, my future mom-in-law. They all like these two the best (I have a fav of these two choices): http://antiqueengagementrings.com/shopping/shopexd.asp?id=1183 http://antiqueengagementrings.com/shopping/shopexd.asp?id=2299 Plus, I've searched online and on this forum and I can't find anyone else that has these settings. So, it will be more unique |

Your .66 I SI1 is back on the site!
Reserve it now. Once it is reserved, you will have all the time in the world to choose a setting. We are rooting for you. |

Oh really? That's funny. I already have moved on from that one. Plus, it was HARD ENOUGH to try and find a setting that fits a stone smaller than .75 ct. Seriously. It is in BFs hands now. I must let go!! Oh, and this setting... http://antiqueengagementrings.com/shopping/shopexd.asp?id=1183 ...is my favorite! They told me I could do 8-prong, but if I do fishtail or split prong, it will enhance the cushion shape more than the 8-prong. If I go with this one, they will custom make the head for me. Here are some examples of the prongs they said I could get: Fishtail: http://antiqueengagementrings.com/shopping/shopexd.asp?id=169 Split: http://antiqueengagementrings.com/shopping/shopexd.asp?id=3502 BUT, I'm letting my BF choose what setting he likes the bestest...since I love them all! I am sure he will make a great decision. |
