Hi,

Over the weekend my boyfriend put a downpayment on a diamond with the following specs. Can you comment on what the grade of cut falls into and what the current value of a stone with these specs might be?

Carat: 1.04 RB
Color: F
Clarity: SI1
Measurements: 6.54x6.47x3.94mm
Depth: 60.6
Table: 58.0
Crown: 13.7
Pavilion: 42.2
Girdle: Thin to Slightly Thick Faceted
Polish: Very Good
Symmetry: Very Good
Fluorescence: None
Culet: None

Supposedly this is an Ideal cut stone. Do the specs jive with that description? We plan to get it appraised but want to know what would a stone like this sell for around here. I''ve tried a few database searches, but not sure if I am comparing apples to apples.

If you work in this field and can comment, please do!

I''m no expert but through researching for diamonds myself and learning though PS, I say you got one nice stone. At least it sounds nice.

Encouraging cut based on what you''ve presented, with % vs angles, which are preferred. To help you with valuation, you''ll get an apples to apples valuation based on comprables here if you compare based on similar documentation. You don''t specify, so it''s likely to be EGL, based on the data presented. Try "other" on the quick search to replicate? Constrain.

You''re not unhelpful at all!I appreciate your post. Also, Regular Guy—I will take that advice with respect to the search engine (pricescope).

this stone will not make the AGS 0 cut. if this is an EGL stone, they have their own rules for "ideal" cuts.

It scored a 1.7 on the HCA, which is pretty good, but I think the 58% table would prevent it from making the AGS 0 standard. I''m far from an expert, but have done plenty of cut research myself. I suspect the stone you mention will be a well above average cut, but just short of a true ideal cut by the standard I consider most important (AGS). Good luck with your search and purchase!
