A couple of months ago, I came to realize that I had “lost” my grandmother’s wedding ring that had been passed down to me by my mother. For the life of me, I couldn’t remember the last time I saw it, except maybe when I had put it in my change purse to take in to the jeweler to inquire about having the shank replaced. I had convinced myself that most likely, I had given it with change at Starbucks, or dropped it when digging for change for a meter when shopping. Every time I thought about it, I felt nauseous in the pit of my stomach, that I could be so careless to lose something this precious.
Yesterday, I was sitting in the sun on my lunch hour reading my kindle while having my car cleaned, inside and out…a young man walks up to me and says “ma’am, I found this in your car, the vacuum nearly sucked it up, but I heard a clinking sound and stopped” Hands me Grandma’s ring!!!!!!! “OMG” says me “my grandma’s ring!” tears and all! Couldn’t believe it! What a miracle that he found it and more of a miracle that he was so honest and brought it to me! I think he was a little misty eyed too, he went back to working on my car, and then I went over to give him a reward, he was telling the other guys the great story and seemed so proud that he had made my day!
I know this is not a spectacular ring, by PS standards (or even my own diamond standards these days) but the irreplaceable value of the ring and the cure for the ache in my stomach that I had been feeling for several months believing that it was lost forever! Truly vintage and my grandma wore this ring every day that I ever saw her in my life. I just need to share it with you today!
Please pardon the camera phone pictures from my office, but I’m just sitting here mesmerized by it!
